Friday

It was a special afternoon for young trainer Maddie Schulz, who scored her first winner as a trainer, when Rage Quit won over the 400m trip on Friday. It was a dashing display from the fawn dog, as he came out quickly and led with an 8.62 first split.

Down the back straight, he had set up a big margin and was looking pretty good but started to get a little leg weary late. However, it had done more than enough and was able to win in a time of 22.78 to give Maddie a memorable first win as a trainer.

Ebby Collerson produced a surprise victory for his trainer Kym Burnett, when he overcame a tricky box eight draw on the 400m start. It showed more early speed than usual from the wide draw settling second before powering past the leader on the home turn before storming away and winning in a time of 23.08.

Ben Rawlings had a big afternoon, landing a training treble thanks to some impressive performances. Orson Assassin got things rolling for Rawlings, with the quality chaser returning from a lengthy spell and winning from box one over the short trip.

He claimed a win in a slick 22.65 which was an equal best of the day with another winner for Rawlings in Halkidiki who also won over 400m from box seven. Agent Nineteen completed the treble also winning from box seven in a quick time of 22.67.

Wednesday

The Jan Jones trained Coasting Heart (Fernando Bale x Star Anise) got the Wednesday program underway, breaking through for his maiden victory. From the box one draw over the 400m start, he came out quickly and set up a big lead as they went down the back straight.

He did things comfortably and was never in any danger, as he won easily in 23.28. Jan has been having some success thus far with this litter, so hopefully it can continue!

Lester Harris would have certainly got a cheer up when his chaser Influencer produced an upset victory in a small field over the 531m trip. After being in good form previously, he was returning from a two-month spell on Wednesday, but it didn’t show.

From box four, he came out well, before working hard through the first turn and taking over down the back straight. Once in front, he was able to make the most of some fortune behind him and scoot away, setting up a big lead and  winning by 10 length in a sharp 30.98 in what was a really good return and nice training effort from Lester!
