The excellent run of recent form for Nicole Price’s kennel continued on Friday’s 12-race program at Gawler as she grabbed a pair of winners on the program as her stellar start to 2024 continues.

The first winner was impulsive, who started as a short-priced favourite over the 400m and produced an excellent run from box six.

Away only fairly from the wide draw, Impulsive was quickly able to muster around the field getting away and winning by three lengths in 22.65 for career win number 11 at start number 29.

The second winner for Price was relative newcomer to South Australia in Ben Tango who made it back-to-back wins in a grade six race over the 400m trip.

From box two, Ben Tango was away second behind the leader Super Seabird who got away well in box one but Ben Tango was able to stay up the track and make ground quickly going to the lead around the turn before kicking away and winning in 22.61.

It was a third career win for Ben Tango and has two wins from its three SA starts and looks to be another promising addition to the Price kennel!

The mixed grade 2/3/4 over the 400m was the final race on the program but did not disappoint with several in-from chasers clashing including Paua Of Silence and the recently award 2023 Gawler Track Star Go Go Snow.

However, it was the Liz Harley trained Zipping Campbell who claimed the race winning box from box five.

Showing plenty of early speed, Zipping Campbell powered to the lead with an 8.57 first split and was able to get to the rail. While the chasers closed late, Zipping Campbell was able to hold on and win by a length in 22.48, which was the best of the daytime.

Another impressive winner on the card was the Michael Giniotis trained Baez Jinx who opened the program with a nice win over the 643m trip.

From box two, Baez Jinx was able to get down into the early lead with the Brenda Oakey trained Aussie Brad settling behind in second. The two greyhounds engaged in a terrific duel for much of the race with Baez Jinx able to hold on and win by a length in 37.58.

It was career win number eight at start number 28 for Baez Jinx and with strong distance breeding lines, it looks to be one to watch over the long trips in the coming weeks.

Wednesday’s 10-race card saw plenty of impressive performances including a double for trainer Marty Doyle who grabbed two winners from box one draws.

The first was Whisky Molly who took out a grade six race over the 400m journey who slightly missed the kick but was able to get going and power through and get a small break before holding off the fast finishers to win by a length in 23.52.

The second winner was Makani Girl, who had an excellent first split of 8.71to get clear running out in front and win by five lengths in 22.95.

Rob Harnas also grabbed a double beginning with Starlet Edition who was a comprehensive winner in a grade 6 race over the 40mm journey. Starting as a short priced favourite from box two, Startlet Edition was never troubled winning by eight lengths in 22.79.

The second was Blossom Michelle, who won a grade 6 race over the 521m trip. From box four, she showed plenty of early speed opening up a five length lead down the back and while she tired a bit late, Blossom Michelle was able to win by two lengths in 31.00.

It was career win number 5 at start number 24 for Blossom Michelle who’s next assignment will be the heats of the Howard Ashton Series on Thursday night.
