Well, it was another big Sunday night of racing at Gawler with eleven races on display. We kicked things off with a Grade Six over the 400-meter journey. The lightly raced youngster She's A Hotshot scored a win in the first for trainer Troy Murray. She has only had the three career starts over the space of six weeks but she has now scored two career wins during that time. She ran a slick time of 22.91 so she is starting to develop into a handy greyhound.

Heavy rain started to fall before race two which was another Grade Six over the 400 meters. Smart chaser Emerley Will managed to score his second win in a row for trainer Graeme Stirling. He jumped well from box eight and he managed to stay wide to record a seven-length win and run an impressive time of 23.09. Graeme’s son James Stirling (Pictured) was Emerley Will's handler. James had never boxed a winner before until this race so he was extremely thrilled to see his dad’s greyhound get up for the victory. James is only 15 but he has always had a strong interest in greyhound racing throughout his younger years. He has only been handing and boxing greyhounds at race meetings for about six weeks. So I’m sure he will be boxing plenty of more winners in the not too distant future. It’s great to see more young people getting involved with the sport.

Other winners on the night included Express Eve getting up for trainer Nicole Price. She copped a bit of pressure during the race but she still managed to hit the line well and run a strong time of 23.00. We also saw some handy chasers run over the 531-meter journey. Miss Bellawood registered her nineteenth career win for Gino Grgurovic. The 2020 Adelaide Cup heat winner ran over the top during the closing stages of the race to run a time of 31.06. Victa Saige also returned to winning form when he jumped well from box number three and led all of the way for a commanding victory for trainer Lisa Rasmussen.

Short course specialist All Out Crazy notched up his 28th career win and his 20th win over the 400 meters at Gawler for trainer Mike Wittholz. He also managed to equal his personal best time running a time of 22.56 which is very sharp. During the week at the race meeting on Tuesday afternoon, we saw in form trainer Kim Johnstone score a treble of winners. Velocity Fairy, Shuffle The Deck and Velocity Comet all managed to score wins over the 400 meters for Johnstone.

Gawler will be back racing on Tuesday afternoon and on Sunday night this week. Head up to the Nixon's Function centre and grab a feed while watching some high-class greyhound racing.
