2015 CLASSIC TRIPLE M ADELAIDE CUP – REVIEW

Tonight at Angle Park history was made when champion sprinter Fernando Bale became the first greyhound to break through the $1 million dollar mark in prizemoney when he blew away a strong Group 1 Adelaide Cup field leaving them lamenting in his wake.

With history in the making there was an air of confidence as the superstar made his way to the boxes in front of a large vocal crowd on a beautiful night in Adelaide. The Dailly camp seemed to absorb the pressure and take it in their stride even with owner Paul Wheeler making the trip to the festival state. He was on hand to witness one of the most brilliant performances seen on the Angle Park circuit with Fernando Bale running a brilliant 29.20 in winning by over 8 lengths.

Again, he wasn’t super out of the boxes however his drive to the first turn saw him race to the front and from there he waved goodbye to the chasing pack. Lachlan Brown for SA did a terrific job to keep close to the champ but faded a little in the run to the line. At only his 7th career start he held on gamely for local trainer Paula Hearnden giving her one of the biggest thrills she has had in greyhound racing. Kayda Shae battled on well for Kelly Bravo to run another Group placing in finishing third but there was no stopping Fernando Bale.

He ran a time that ranks him in the top 5 greyhounds that have competed at Angle Park and took his prizemoney to $1,006,110 which sits him atop the tree in prizemoney won anywhere in the world.

Adelaide saw one of the all-time greats tonight create history in Fernando Bale and for that we thank the Dailly camp and owner Paul Wheeler and wish them every bit of success in the future.
