The Weblec Ace and Mepunga Blazer at stud Straight Track Cup has been taken out in blistering fashion by the Oswald Chegia trained Fantastic Victor. Following on from an impressive heat win the week before, Fantastic Victor overcame a sticky middle to draw to completely tear apart the red hot field, with Aston Olenna coming second and Denzell Bale in for third, which are both trained by Dave Peckham. With the late scratching of the dog outside him, Fantastic Victor was able to fly out the boxes with no pressure at all and clock a 6.82 first split, which is simply as fast as they go. From there he was never challenged with the rest of the field not getting close to the airborne chaser, as he strolled in with a mesmerizing 18.86 gallop. The win didn’t come as a huge surprise to Ozzie, who gave him a chance.

“I’m never confident but I thought he would go alright.” said Oswald

The 18.86 run is seriously frightening and it was a second look at the track which has worked wonders.

“It was a top run! Last week was his first look at the straight track, he’d never been on it before and still went okay. I thought he would improve a length or so which he did. He jumped beautifully and got to the front early then it was all over.”

Ozzie has had plenty of good dogs in his time which include, Boozeroo, Flying Tee, Wheelspinner and of course Fantastic Radley, who is racing fantastically at the moment. Fantastic Victor is up there as one of the best that he has had.

“He’s a nice dog, we’ve had good sprinters before but he’s probably up there somewhere.”

Fantastic Victor will now go back to Angle Park, in preparation for some feature races, which include the Nationals.

“We’ll probably come back to town. Back to Angle Park and get him going until we get a couple of good races. The nationals are coming up in another six weeks so we’ll be heading that way.”

Well done to Oswald and all the connections of Fantastic Victor!
