CULT HERO “ERNIE BUNG ARROW” RETURNS TO THE TRACK

One of the most exciting chasers locally and nationally in the last decade returns to the race track on Tuesday at Gawler.

Ernie Bung Arrow will re-ignite his racing career in a Grade 5 event at Gawler over the 400m and has drawn the coveted red box with the race due to start at 1.43pm (SA Time). Achieving cult hero status due to his outstanding race performances on the track Ernie Bung Arrow has not been seen since his victory at Angle Park on the 23rd January earlier this year. Since that time he has been injured, carried out Stud duties and is now being cared for by Kim Johnstone until his regular trainer, Ken Gill comes back into the Industry.

Ernie Bung Arrow is a winner of 19 of only 21 starts with 1 placing and prizemoney of around $170,000. His honor roll includes the 2013 Champion Puppy Final, 2013 Group 3 Schweppes Derby, 2013 Group 1 Triple M Adelaide Cup, 2013 Group 3 Brian Johnstone Final, 2014 SA Sprint Championship and was named the 2013 SA Greyhound of the Year.

He has only ever tasted defeat once in SA and has won his last 11 races in the Festival State. No doubt all eyes will focus on the Northern track on Tuesday in the hope that “Ernie” has lost none of his outstanding high speed and racing characteristic that has endeared him to many a greyhound racing fan around the country.
