On Sunday night it was Emerley Zero who was lighting up Gawler Race Track, in what can only be described as one of the fastest 400m runs we have seen in the past 12 months.

Trained by Judi Hurley, Emerley Zero is truly finding his speed as he approaches his 100th start. This run saw him reach his best time at Gawler over the 400m, bringing him to 30 career wins from his 98 runs.

“He’s been a tremendous dog and is just a few legs short of being in the top grade but he goes out and gives it his all,” Judi stated.

While this run was still a far cry from the 400m track record of 22.27 set by Avid Tyson in April of 2014, the pace Emerley Zero set in Race 7 didn’t go unnoticed as he took the lead out the boxes and continued to extend it over the trip, finishing with a very sharp time of 22.45. A commanding win over the pack with Trickeration, trained by Clint Trengove, coming in second with a time of 22.90.

Emerley Zero sure is writing an impressive resume and one to watch as this brooding 3 year old continues to beat his PBs each week. He has taken home 5 wins and 2 places from his last 9 starts at Angle Park and Gawler. “He is a good, honest dog and a grinner. If you baby talk to him he smiles from ear to ear,” Judi said.

As he lines up to take on the 515m at Angle Park tonight we look forward to seeing just what Emerley Zero does next.
