This Thursday night 14th April (Easter) the “SA Eastar” Match Race series will be held at Angle Park. All the times have been calculated to the third decimal where necessary with the below list shaping as an exciting series. It is now up to the trainers to nominate with nominations closing at 9am on Monday for the final field and match ups to be determined. GRSA will announce the match ups and draw on facebook around lunchtime on Monday.
These greyhounds are nomination subject for the series - Memphis Keeping – 30.21 (N/S), Victa Reid – 30.29 (Easter Cup – N/E), Sunset Toxic – 30.30 (N/S), Weblec Mist – 30.30 (Easter Cup – N/E), Don’t Tell Lies – 30.32 (Interstate), Ned’s Chance- 30.33 (N/E), Don’t Tell Bluey – 30.34 (N/E) Mallee Magic - 30.39 (n/e), It’s Smudgy – 30.3793 (engaged Wed)
This event is for South Australian local greyhounds. Selection for this series is based around winning times at Angle Park for greyhounds that have run over the 530m at any Angle Park meeting since 1st November, 2021 along with those that have trialled to set a time.
The head to head matches will be decided based on the final listing and nominations. Match 1 will be 1 v 4, Match 2 will be 2 v 3, Match 3 will be 5 v 8 and Match 4 will be 6 v 7. There will be no manual selection from the Grader. The top 4 seeded greyhounds will be rewarded with more prizemoney.
The overall winner of the local Match Race series will be offered a spot in the State of Origin Match race series (SA V Vic) in September so long as it is nominated and eligible to represent SA subject to changes.
Winners of match races – Match 1 – 1 v 4 $4,500, Match 2 – 2 v 3 $4,000, Match 3 – 5 v 8 $3,500, Match 4 – 6 v 7 $3,000. There will be $500 unplaced for each match.
Overall SA Eastar winner (based on overall times) - $6,000, second $2,500, third $1,500.
