In response to Fridays announcement by the SA State Government, GRSA advises that the current restrictions on intra-state travel (within SA) will be removed from Monday 11th May, 2020.

This restriction primarily prevented greyhound trainer movement between Mt Gambier and Adelaide, in line with the direction from government regarding the limiting of travel between the regions.

The easing of this restriction will not only allow south-east region trainers to race and trial at the three Adelaide region tracks (Angle Park, Gawler and Murray Bridge), but also allow Adelaide region trainers to travel to Mt Gambier for their weekly Thursday afternoon meeting.

The restriction on cross border movement remains in place, therefore interstate trainers (mostly Victorian) are unable to trial and race at South Australian tracks. Only once this restriction is lifted will GRSA consider (a) programming a second weekly meeting at Mt Gambier, and (b) reprogramming the Mt Gambier Cup.

GRSA will assess the impacts of Fridays other decisions by the Federal and State Governments’ and if necessary, provide further advice to the industry on how they may impact operations going forward.
