Wednesday

The Wednesday card at Gawler was lit up by a sizzling performance from the Nicole Price trained Cruisin’, who scored around in his 400m grade 6 event. From box five, the black dog flew out o0f the boxes and jumped to an early lead, running an airborne 8.57 early. That first split set up a comfortable lead to the back and he did it really nicely out in front, before going on to win by 2 lengths in a best of the day 22.61. That win made it 3 wins from his first 6 starts, so he has certainly made a great start to his career.

Chris Jaensch picked up a winner in the form of Bionic Blues. It was a fast beginning from the blue bitch, which set up the victory. She fired out of box five and ran 8.69 early to lead by 3 lengths up the back. Coming into the home straight she was starting to get a bit tired and only just held off a fast finisher challenger, winning by half a length in a slick 22.87.

Cooper Kryan has always shown glimpses of ability but has found it hard to win at times because of his poor box manners, but those manners were slightly improved on Wednesday, which allowed him to return to the winners list. From box seven in a handy grade 5, he came out a tad slowly and found himself a length off the early charge to the first turn. It was a mix up on the turn and Cooper Kryan used some race smarts to stay out wide and avoid the trouble, quickly getting himself into second up the back. Hitting the home turn, he stormed to the lead and once in front he was never getting beaten, winning by 2 lengths in 22.84.

Friday

Don Turner enjoyed a winning double on Friday, which continued the nice run he is having at the moment with his kennel. Burning Fee (Worm Burner x Zipping Fee Fee) broke through for her maiden win at start nine, making the most of box one to land a strong victory.  She came out well and was in second up the back straight, whilst moving wide and using plenty of the track. It got a bit tight approaching the home turn, but Burning Fee swept around the outside and went to the front, before winning in 23.59. Irish Heiress was the other winner for Don, with the bitch having found some really good form since joining his kennel. From box three, she came out quickly over the 400m trip and despite getting a small check from behind, she kept working her way to the front and found a clear lead up the back straight. She was never in trouble at any point, winning easily in an impressive 22.89. A day at the office Don!

Clint Trengove scored a training double on Friday, with the first winner being Spring Illusion who won a strong race over the 531m trip. From box two, the black dog found himself in a very unusual spot early and that was leading, with the super strong chaser always going to be hard to run down from there. That proved true as he simply proved far too good, winning by a widening 4 lengths in 30.84.  The other winning came in the form of Bruisin’ Bull, who overcame a treacherous box four draw for the 400m trip. He came out running early, going 8.64 to the first split and setting up a handy margin up the back. He was never in any danger and stopped the clock at 22.83. A good day out for Clint.

Air Grace was a big winner on the card for Dave Rundle, with the brindle bitch using box one well to run a flying 22.66 best of the day. From the low draw, she came out better than normal and was able to land second as they went up the back straight. Being quite strong and with a weakening leader, she was always sitting pretty and around the home turn, she peeled out wide and took over, dropping the leader in a few strides and running away for a comprehensive 3 length victory. A great run from Air Grace who has been in good form recently
