Greyhound Racing was at Gawler last Wednesday like it usually is and we saw a strong twelve race program take place at the venue. Lewiston trainer Don Turner had a very strong day with the collar and lead. He started off the day well in race one when his greyhound Fifty Eight who only recently made his debut broke his maiden. He had only had the two career starts before his win on Wednesday for the one placing. Both of those starts were over 531 meters. He stepped back to 400 meters on Wednesday which seemed to do the trick. He led for a majority of the race and ran a time of 23.59. Don would strike again in the last race when one of his kennel stars All Show won from box four. He ran a time of 23.05 and made it win number 25 from 85 starts. He has been a very impressive greyhound for Don.

It started off when Ben’s promising youngster Bragger Deen took out race one running a personal best time of 22.83. Bragger Deen has now won three races from three starts. Ben would strike again in race five when Classy Chaos led all of the way and ran a time of 22.66. Jack Trengove scored a race to race double earlier on in the day when Emerley Aussie and Helmet Giblet won races three and four. Yvonne King also had a successful day when her in form greyhound Allinga Ollie ran a super time of 22.48 over 400 meters which is absolutely flying.

On Saturday morning Scott Feltus scored a double when Jorja Can Burn took out race two and Land Of Promise took out race seven. Trainer of the week was definitely Ben Rawlings who scored a total of four winners at Gawler across Wednesday and Friday. Racing returns to Gawler on Wednesday and Friday afternoon again this week. Make sure you head to the track this week for a decent feed and some entertaining racing.
