The South Australian flag will be proudly waved this Thursday night at Albion Park when local star Don’t Tell Lies lines up in a heat of the Queensland Futurity. The highly talented bitch had been in terrific form when she left the festival state a few weeks ago, before arriving with caretaker trainer Tony Brett for her campaign. Don’t Tell Lies has drawn well with box two in a field that brings together many different formlines. With just two heats, she will need to run in the first four in order to make the final next week.

“Just happy with the draw! Just wanted to draw inside. Tony has been really happy with her and said that taking what he knows from our track and putting it into perspective with Albion Park, she will improve early and he was really happy with her run home in the trial.” said co-trainer Ryan Tugwell

“The benefit is that she's been over there for four weeks. They changed the dates on us! The heats were meant to be last week but they put it back with the Phoenix race on, and we didn’t know that until she was literally on the plane.” exclaimed Ryan and Lauren

Don’t Tell Lies went around in a race last monday as a tune up given her slightly extended break going into the heat. It was a luckless run and it certainly didn’t disappoint her trainer.

“She just cut left and took the favourite out. She did that the first time at Angle Park but learnt pretty quickly. We were just glad she had a look in race conditions so that this week she hopefully comes out a bit straighter.” said Lauren.

The preparation has gone really well apart from that luckless effort last week, with Tony Brett extremely happy with how she has been.

“He loves her! He wants to keep her. She’s travelled amazing and he said from day 1 that she’s absolutely lovely, no mess and no noise, she’s just a dream to train really.” said Ryan.

After this race, there are a few options on the cards for Don’t Tell Lies but Lauren and Ryan are just taking it one race at a time.

“The owners have touted the Launceston Cup as they are from Tasmania, but there's nothing concrete. There's plenty of options available but we just take it one race at a time. We just want to make the final and then next week is a different story. There's only two heats so that helps.” said Ryan

The race takes place at 7:52pm SA time on Thursday night.
