Tuesday (Straight Track)

Debbie Stuppos had the first winner for the program on Tuesday, with her trained and owned bitch Damocles getting up in a tight finish in what was a really good effort from the daughter of Aston Dee Bee. Only fairly away, she was a few lengths behind the leader, before she knuckled down late and chased well to pinch the race late in 17.24. Debbie didn’t have to wait long for her next winner either, with Pepperjack scoring beautifully in race 2! It was a top effort from the 38kg dog, as he was behind a few dogs early in the run, however, he used his massive body to get through a gap and come late, winning by a couple of lengths in 16.95. Well done, Debbie!

The ‘Jack Trengove show’ rolled on as he scored another two winners. Shrinking was the first and it took a grinding effort from her to eventually wear down the pack of chasers in front of her. She came out okay from box four, however saw a few tails early, but she had the smarts to hook to the outside where she just kept grinding away before getting the nose in front when it mattered most! Helmet Giblet was the second winner for Jack, as he overcame a tricky box eight to defeat a hot favourite in Married Twice. It was a tough win, as he was slightly dragged down early, but still good enough to win in 17.02.

Arch Of Daisy’s continued her affiliation with the straight track, as she clocked a BOD 16.66 in her thrilling win over Aston Carlos. Her box manners are faultless up the straight and it was another flying first split which proved the difference as she jumped straight on the rail and led all the way to win just ahead of the fast-finishing Aston Carlos.

Dog to follow: Aston Carlos - Have been really taken by his two return runs from a lengthy break. The run-on Tuesday was excellent as he was able to cross over from box eight, before just running out of time to catch Arch Of Daisy’s. He will certainly be winning very soon.

Sunday (1-Turn)

Another cracking card of racing on Sunday and it was the inform Maximum Refusal that added to his picket fence again as he took out the first of the night. It was only a field of four but it certainly had some quality in it and after some early jostling in the race, Maximum Refusal landed second behind Aston Alpha. Both of them went stride for stride up the back, however, Maximum Refusal showed his prowess and marched on by as they turned for home, eventually winning in a tidy 39.14.

Maximum Refusal finds the gap and the lead in race 1 at Murray Bridge on Sunday night.

It was a good night for the Rasmussen team, with Tony and Lisa taking out three races between them. On The Whisky’s broke her maiden after some consistent racing at Angle Park, before Queen Of Scotch made it three from three, as she used box eight to perfection to sweep around mid-race and win in 22.28. Canya Razor was the third of their winners and he went like a torpedo, clocking a BON 25.31 over the 455m trip. His last few runs have been excellent and it appears the penny has now dropped with him.

Tamica Dunn has been having a nice run lately and it was no surprise to see Mrs. Missile continue her terrific form. She drew box four in an even grade five race, but it wasn’t enough to stop her. She jumped okay but was crossed by Boundin’ Baby, however that was a task not too great for Mrs. Missile, as she chased really hard to catch Boundin’ Baby quite quickly, before putting the race away in good fashion.

Dog to follow: Fly For Trix - Was first up for a couple of months on Sunday and the effort was fantastic. He has been doing some coursing recently and that seemed to show on Sunday, as he was only fairly away before finding trouble, however was still good enough to charge late and only just miss the flying winner. He has clearly come back in great order and with Masters racing just around the corner, I would suggest he will be winning plenty more!
