The past week at the Bridge...

Tuesday (Straight Track)

It was great to see Robbie Harnas returned to the winners list as he presented Slippery Kip in the first. Slipper Kipy received a bit of market support to start favourite and showed why with a comprehensive 17.04 victory.

David Rundle brought two dogs to the track, Rock The Sky and Married Twice, which both were winners! David has only had 3 starters so far and all 3 of them have won! Not a bad start to your training career! Married Twice was probably the most impressive of the two as she clocked a neat 16.93.

The race of the day was the grade 6 final over the 350m trip which saw a hot market with 3 even favourites, Zipping Sheba, Compulsory Hero and Mister Mullet. What eventuated was an outstanding race, with the two Bec Romyn dogs finding the front, before Mister Mullet railed hard and picked them both up - not easy! The Mullet went a slick 19.38 as he continued his great return to racing.

Mister Mullet ended up taking the time honours for the 350m trip whilst the straight track weapon in Stag Jiggs, clocked BOD figures in his 16.84 win ahead of Safe Drop.

Dog to follow: Married Twice - A ripping first up win for Dave, showing some really nice pace to win easily. Suspect she can go on with it and build on her 4 wins from 27 career!

Sunday (1-Turn)

We had glorious conditions for our Friday meeting. Bob Isaacson made a rare venture to the Bridge and it paid dividends with a winner in the first. Just Us was able to topple the highly fancied favourites in the race, coming from midfield before railing well and opening up in the straight.

Bob Isaacson made it a double (and training honours for the day) when Jamie Lannister won the 6th of the day. I can’t recall Jamie ever leading a race but that’s what he did on Friday, and once he did that it was race over! He clocked a neat 22.53 in the process.

It was singles all round after Bob’s double, which included Yvonne Maxwell scoring a winner with a rare trip up to the Bridge. Her runner, Calais Prince was able to cross from box 8 and put in a pretty professional performance, going all the way in 22.75.

The race of the day was the matchup between Adele’s Entity and Colden Dayto, both quite classy performers. Colden Dayto was able to rail through and lead Adele’s but turning for home Adele’s Entity got her second wind and pushed on past Colden, scoring a sound 25.84 win.

Spring Ammo clocked a BOD 25.65 after working hard early in his race before putting them away midrace. It came as no surprise after his monster effort last week (after being backed like no tomorrow). The super reliable Sevilla took home BOD honours for the 395m trip, putting in a dominant effort to go 22.34 and score another win.

Dog to follow: Maybe Wrong - The penny has dropped with this dog! Only won 3 from 18 but has won his last two on the trot. Wore a jet pack last start and went a flying 22.89 at the Mount last start, before putting in a super effort to run down Canya Thunder on Friday. Didn’t have it all his own way in the run but loved the way he knuckled down and picked up the leader! Clint and Shelley have got their dogs airborne and this bloke is no exception, they are fast becoming a powerhouse training combination in the state.
