The past week at the Bridge…

Tuesday (Straight Track)

Beautiful conditions welcomed us for 10 races up the Straight on Tuesday.

Similarly to the fortnight previous when his sister did the same thing, Hey Sisco kicked things off to break his maiden in fine fashion for trainer Kathy Johnstone. Hey Sisco had been okay without being eye-catching at Angle Park, but the move to the Murray Bridge Straight seemed to be very well received from the white and black chaser. He was terrific on his way to a 16.75 effort, and I am sure their were some happy punters as he was well backed too.

Sharyn Gray was able to score a rare Murray Bridge victory, when Masked By Design followed up her terrific effort the week before, by going one better and winning with a slick 16.66. Sharyn doesn’t often travel down to Murray Bridge, but she might now with how well Masked By Design has taken to the track.

Race 5 was a deadset cracker with a returning Danyo’s Wylie taking on the Murray Bridge rocket - Craggy Island. Craggy Island started favourite but Danyo’s Wylie simply scoffed at that, by taking an early assendency and never looking like getting beat, as he went all the way with a 4.40-16.69 effort. An awesome training effort from Lauren Harris, with Wylie having been off the scene since May last year.

Dave Peckham scored a double for the day with Aston Bullet winning impressively in race 6, before Aston Hayato made it a race to race double, taking out the 7th and the day’s feature in a ripping 16.64. Hayato’s 16.64 was also a best of day effort, with Emerley Poida taking the 350m honors with his 19.26 run.

Dog to follow: Rock It Barcia - Has had the four runs in this preparation and the run on Tuesday was easily the best. Took it right up to Aston Bullet and ran a quick 16.75 herself. Looks close to breaking through for a win.

Friday (1-Turn)

A really strong 12 race card assembled on the Friday, with the cracking conditions carrying through.

Allinga Major (Spring Gun x Alling Dot) got the ball rolling when he broke clear of his maiden tag. He jumped well and led quite comfortably, but got weary late and only just hung on from a fast finishing Jet Blaze. The black dog is part of the next group of ‘Allinga’ dogs coming through and it was terrific to see him get the job done for trainer Yvvone King.

Bragger Dean was electric in the second of the day, when he spaced his opponents with his outstanding 5.04-22.36 run. That made it two from two for the Aston Dee Bee x Ragadeen chaser and he looks to have quite a nice future. Trainer Ben Rawlings later made it three for the day when Spring Phoebe and Classy Chaos won their races in scintillating fashion with 25.36 and 22.38 all the way wins respectively.

Kirin Corby followed on from her massive Doug Payne victory the night before, with Express Eve getting the job done with her first run for 6 weeks. It wasn’t an easy grade 5 and box seven didn’t help either. She had to work hard early to get around the field, but once she did it was over as she roared on by and quickly put a gap in them before winning 22.51.

Allinga Ollie continued his unbelievable form as he took out the days 2/3/4 grade race in a flying 22.18 which was also BOD. Their aren’t many going better right now than Ollie!

A really good day’s racing at the Bridge!

Dog to follow: Dark Tides - Really loved the way she went about it for her first race since September. It was a really hot race with the flying Queen Of Fire starting a raging favourite. Dark Tides drew poorly with box 4 and when she was only fairly away, it was mission impossible. Her work midrace however, I thought was terrific, somehow avoiding carnage with a bunching field as they hit the bend, before charging late and taking ground off Queen Of Fire. An all round excellent return and you can be confident that she will be winning one shortly.
