Curls Victory electric up the straight
Tuesday (Straight Track)
For the second week in a row Wendy Sebastyan took out the first race of the day, with her chaser Harry Kool breaking through at start 26! He jumped well from the outside to find the front and was a bit too quick for the others, winning in 16.74. Well done to Wendy and Harry! A deserved win for a bit of patience. Wendy also made it two for the day when Sebastyan Prince won later on the card in 16.38, making two in a row for him.
Springview Force won the other maiden on the card, with his first up effort in the state. He found a heap of market support early in the day, and whilst he raced a bit greenly, he won terrifically in a flying 16.45.
Whilst the track was quick on the day, Curl’s Victory put up a super fast victory, when she won with ease in a blistering 16.21. No doubt she is one of premier straight trackers, and that near record run proved as much.
Dave Peckham made another trip to Bridge and left with two quinellas for the day! Aston Hayato and Aston Olenna finished first and second in race 5, before Aston Mitchell won nicely in race 10 ahead of kennel mate Bourne Brett.
Dog to follow: Aston Olenna - I loved the run from him first up during the week, after quite a while off. Obviously he is a quick dog but after a moderate trial the week before their were certainly a couple of question marks with how he is going. He didn’t have a heap go his way during the run, but was still good enough to finish second in quick time. No doubt he will be winning very shortly.
Sunday (1-Turn)
Porzingas caused a boilover in the first race of the day for Vern Anderson, after starting $26. The fawn dog has been in solid form previously, but on Sunday he was able to lead and from the front he just kept grinding away, proving too good for the others in 22.61.
Newcomer to the state in the form of John Dutton was able to get straight on the winners list with a nice 22.28 effort over the short trip. He’s come with big expectations and has made a start to living up to it, with the win coming off the back of some tough work midrace when he had to burrow underneath another runner.
Clear View won nicely over the 455m, with a BON 25.51. The white and fawn bitch was just having her third run back from a short spell, but showed a lot of benefit from the weeks before run, displaying a good level of strength through the line, after being challenged mid race.
Lauren Harris quinelled race 8 with a couple of her kennel jets. Danyo’s Charlie used box 8 to perfection to cross over the short trip, with Craggy Island right on his back. The two of them cleared out front the rest, before Craggy Island made a good go of chasing down Danyo’s Charlie, but couldn’t with Danyo’s Charlie hanging on in a super sharp (and BON) 22.07.
Dog to follow: Allinga Lily - Well she’s certainly not young, having just turned four but she is racing really at the moment. She’s just struggling to find the arm recently and again on Sunday she jumped well, but was just shuffled back towards the rear of the field. Her work at the end and through the race was just terrific, and a sign of a hound that’s going well.
