A good crowd was on course on Sunday night at the Gawler Greyhounds to see a quality twelve race program. One of the highlights of the night was Craggy Island returning to winning form for trainer Ray Fewings. This quality chaser had shown his ability over the shorter distances after he managed to break two different track records at Murray Bridge in the space of two months. On Sunday Night Craggy Island returned to the longer distance and had his first look at the 531 meters at Gawler. He was extremely impressive running a slick time of 30.90 from box number two. The in-form Toby West ran on well from trainer Adam Manton and was only a length away from Craggy Island on the line finishing second.

Another highlight from the night was talented trainer Nicole Price continuing her strong form and scoring a double in races ten and eleven. Express Eve was her first winner of the night. She showed plenty of speed from box number four and led all of the way for a commanding victory. She set a new personal best time as well running a time of 22.84. Northern Zone was the second of Price’s winners. The win was almost identical to his kennel mate. He also led all of the way from box four and ran a solid time of 23.05.

Tony Rasmussen had another successful Sunday Night at Gawler when he scored a double with Canya Storm and Cawbourne Hope. Canya Storm managed to return to the winners list over the 531 meters and Cawbourne Hope was very impressive over the 643 meters when she led all of the way to make it two wins in a row. We also saw Long Gully Barny register his 35th career win for trainer Paula Hearnden when he came out and ran 22.83 over the 400 meters. Young trainer Dillion Robinson who only started training recently registered another win for himself when his greyhound Abernathy scored a well-deserved win over the 400 meters running a time of 23.06.

Racing returns to the usual timeslots of Wednesday afternoon and Sunday night this week at the Gawler Greyhound Club. So make sure you can join us up in the Nixon’s Function for a night of action packed entertainment.
