The latest Government direction has been released this afternoon. The vast majority of existing restrictions remain in place, with the following changes:

  • Masks need to be worn in the racing club venues and the GRSA and GAP front office reception area
  • Virginia to reopen for trialling – no coursing meetings until further notice, as directed by Government
  • Kennelling times revert back to the regular times
  • Basic catering will be open for on-course for essential attendees who attend race meetings

A full list of current restrictions are as follows – moving forward until further notice is provided by government:

  • Only essential staff, licenced trainers and catchers who have greyhounds engaged at the race meeting are allowed on course
  • No owners, general public or children
  • Masks need to be worn in the racing club venues and the GRSA and GAP front office reception area
  • Restrictions on the number of people in an enclosed area will be in line with current social density requirements
  • Virginia to reopen for trialling – no coursing meetings until further notice, as directed by Government
  • Basic catering will be available on-course for essential attendees
  • There will be no on-course totalisator operators at any tracks
  • Staggered boxing of greyhounds will be reintroduced
  • Social distancing must be adhered to at all times and will be enforced by stewards
  • All participants and staff must check in on entering the venue via QR codes or manual tracing forms

Although masks are only mandatory indoors, GRSA encourages the wearing of masks at all times. Noting that trainers are there in their capacity as essential workers, we would encourage all trainers to watch the racing from inside the venue, to not give the impression of the general public being on course.

As always, we urge our industry to continue to do the right thing by your family and industry – if you feel unwell or have a temperature please do not come to the track and contact a doctor immediately. Visit SA Health to stay across any updates.

GRSA are taking all measures to ensure the safe continuation of racing – the health and wellbeing of our participants, greyhounds and staff is our #1 priority.
