COVID-19 (Coronavirus) information for SA Participants

Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) is currently monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic and the actions being taken by governments, businesses and other sporting bodies to limit the spread of the virus. GRSA will where necessary, take any action to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of staff and participants.
The Australian Federal Government has recently announced a ban on all non-essential organised events of 500 people or more from Monday 16th March 2020. It should be noted that given the relatively modest crowds at local greyhound meetings, our events will not be subject to this ban and will continue as planned.
As it stands, GRSA will still allow members of the public to attend race meetings, however given the heightened alert of COVID-19 in Australia, the following extra precautions will be implemented:
- The Chasers’ buffet will not operate for the foreseeable future on a Thursday evening (meals will still be available for purchase on a Monday and Thursday evening from the a la carte menu)
- The McQueen’s Tavern salad buffet will not operate for the foreseeable future
- Additional hand sanitiser stations located at entry points and toilets (subject to availability)
- Promotion of health and hygiene messaging on course
It is also encouraged that participants and patrons at all meetings:
- Maintaining a good level of hygiene (handwashing, covering coughs/sneezes)
- Disposing of used tissues and hand towels straight after use
- Bring your own hand sanitiser/hand washing products with you to the venue
- Not attend if you are unwell and report cases of fever, coughing or other flu-like symptoms to your doctor
- Immediately contact a member of staff if you have any health concerns at a meeting
GRSA will provide rolling updates to participants on any further COVID-19 developments, general information and direction from authorities as they become clearer.
