Butcher back with a bang at The Bridge
Friday (One-Turn)
Three trainers claimed doubles on Friday headlined by Cameron Butcher who had a pair of wins to a couple of nice young chasers.
The first was the speedy Mulgundawa who broke his maiden in his third career start after two impressive showings over the 530m journey at Angle Park.
Well-bred from Barcia Bale x Coorong Lucy, Mulgundawa made the most of a box one draw, jumping to a clear lead early and was never troubled in winning by eight lengths in what was an equal best of the 22.13 from the 395m which matched the open race on the card.
Opella made it two for Butcher, also winning from box one over the 395m journey.
A litter mate of Mulgundawa, Opella powered to the lead and held off the chasing pack in the home straight as it won by a length and a half in 22.39.
Michael Giniotis also had a double on the card which started in the opening race on the card with Springvale Bray taking out the distance event over the 680m journey.
Finding the lead from box one, Springvale Bray was able to open up a handy lead down the back straight and while Under Siege closed late, Springvale Bray won by two lengths.
Woodside Bella was the second winner for Giniotis and yet another box one winner on the Murray Bridge card which saw seven red rug winners in all.
In a grade six field over the 455m, Woodside Bella found the early lead and was strong throughout in winning by two lengths in 25,88.
Tracie Price had to wait a little longer for his double, collecting a pair of winners back-to-back in the final two races on the card.
The first was Mister Banjo, who made it two straight wins and four wins in its last five starts with a nice win over the 395m trip stopping the clock in 22.24.
Honey Rocks then completed the double in the last, running a best of the night time from box one over the 455m trip with a 25.65 run.
