A specially tailored dog food mix and packaging facelift is just the start of Bucket O’ Beef’s support for the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) in South Australia.

The local pet food manufacturer has designed a specific food mix for the thousand GAP dogs residing in the state and have also changed the image in their logo for this specially produced food from a Beagle to a greyhound, to signify the partnership with Greyhound Racing SA.

Colin McLeod of Bucket O’ Beef is pleased to be supporting both greyhound foster homes and families adopting the racing dogs.

“Our partnership means that all foster families receive free dry food to care for the greyhounds; once they are adopted, their new families can have a specialty greyhound diet delivered to their door for under $30 a week.”

“The fresh cooked daily, gluten free greyhound mix is perfect for the dog’s digestive system and is packed full of fish oil and nutrients to help keep their skin moisturised,” says Mr McLeod.

GAPSA Coordinator Angela Webb said ‘We are very fortunate to have a great South Australian company like Bucket O’ Beef take the time to develop a meal which is designed especially for this wonderful breed once they have finished their racing careers”.

“Retired racing Greyhounds have specific dietary requirements and never before has a company produced a meal to meet these requirements” Webb says.

Bucket O Beef have produced over seven tonnes of dog food for the GAP fostered greyhounds and are set to increase production to 9 tonnes in 2015.

Bucket O’ Beef is on a fast growth path having just invested half a million dollars in new manufacturing equipment from Germany for their St Mary’s warehouse, employing a team of 10 staff locally.

Greyhound Racing SA’s resident veterinarian Dr Chris Doyle has reviewed the meal plan. “I feel it is a healthy diet for the retired greyhound as they make the transition from their racing career to a loveable household pet” Dr Doyle said.
