South Australia’s glamor chaser, Ernie Bung Arrow, didn’t let his supporters down last night at Angle Park in the Group 3 Brian Johnstone Final before he heads off to Victoria to chase the riches in the Garden State.
The Ken Gill trained super star who has already chalked up the Group 3 Schweppes Derby and Group 1 Triple M Adelaide Cup this season on the Angle Park loam added the prestigious Group 3 Brian Johnstone Final to his growing list of feature wins.
The Brian Johnstone is an restricted age event for SA Bred greyhounds and last night “Ernie” started at the prohibited odds of $1.22. He flew the lids from box 6 and went to the winning post on the first occasion in a blistering 4.36 to claim the front and from there was never headed. He went to the back in 16.80 with his lead continuing to grow and then at the finishing line he stopped the clock in a brilliant 29.66 to win by an ever increasing 9 lengths. He defeated As It Goes for Ossie Chegia and Tex Walker for Karen Wittholz who did their best to stay close to the champ.
Ernie Bung Arrow only turned two last month and took his career to an impressive 16 wins and 1 placing from only 18 starts and prizemoney just under $150,000.
