Brian Johnstone Final dominated by Jeff Britton
2014 BRIAN JOHNSTONE FINAL – REVIEW
Premier Victorian trainer Jeff Britton completed a rare feat on Thursday night where he prepared the first four greyhounds past the winning post in the feature Group 3 Brian Johnstone final at Angle Park.
Jeff’s golden run of feature wins in SA continued with Weblec Belle leading for most of the trip to defeat her more fancied kennel mates. By Dyna Tron out of Snow Excuse and bred locally by Mike Wittholz she was brave in running second behind Oakvale Flyer in her semi final however after an average beginning from box 6 in the final she ran to the front early and from there she couldn’t be caught. She ran sectionals of 4.52,16.95 and an overall of 29.71 making it very hard for both Oakvale Destiny and Texas Titan who filled the minor placings. Oakvale Destiny again showed her class and looked the winner of the back straight but just couldn’t catch her kennel mate while Texas Titan after a slow beginning ran a sizzling 12.55 final section to grab third.
Topping of the Britton First 4 was Oakvale Flyer who was solid into fourth place.
Weblec Belle has now won 8 races from her 15 starts including 4 minor placings and prizemoney around $45,000. Her owners Neville Loechel and Jeff Weber were thrilled with her performance and the training feats of Jeff Britton.
