2015 BGC INDUSTRIAL CLEANING SUPPLIES SA DERBY – REVIEW

The SA Derby final again showcased some of the best young male chasers in the land with a hot field lining up for the Group 3 feature at Angle Park last night.

With the scratching of talented Victorian chaser Blazin’ Bomber punters narrowed their selections down to two outstanding Victorian chasers in Dyna Double One for trainer Andrea Dailly fresh from his blistering heat win in 29.30 and the Rinaldo Divirgilio speedster Fever Pitch who had drawn perfectly in the 8 box after his sizzling 29.56 win in the heats last week.

Many experts felt that box draws and luck in running would play a major part in the outcome of last nights BGC Derby final and that’s the way it played out. Dyna Double One from box 4 needed a clean beginning and would have been hopeful that WA flyer Fun Boss drawn box 3 would give him a nice cart across on to the rails however Fun Boss missed the kick and Dyna Double One was midfield and in traffic to the first turn. In comparison Fever Pitch who was undefeated from the 8 box winning his only 4 starts began brilliantly and got a beautiful run across the field aided by first reserve Percy’s Lad for Kelly Bravo who took advantage of gaining a run from box 7 and showed blistering speed to lead the field out of the straight on the first occasion. As the field powered down the back straight Percy’s Lad was challenged strongly out wide by Fever Pitch while Amaro Bale for Andrea Dailly dove to the inside to make his run. Meanwhile Dyna Double One was struggling to work his way through the field with the strong pace up front. As heads turned for home Fever Pitch had gained the upper hand raced away from his rivals going on to win by 3 lengths in a sizzling 29.52. Percy’s Lad held on well for second with Amaro Bale holding of kennel mate Dyna Double One for third who was luckless throughout. The quality of the race was highlighted by all runners running home in sub 13 seconds which made it extremely difficult to make ground if you were not up on the pace.

The $25,000 first prize took Fever Pitch’s prizemoney past $100,000 and the impressive record of 15 wins and 5 placings from his 29 lifetime starts.
