The box draws for the 2020 Group 1 TAB Topgun and Topgun Stayers, to be run on Saturday night at The Meadows, were conducted live at the Meadows on Monday night at the club’s Cup Eve meeting.

The $150,000 to-the-winner invitational, widely dubbed as the Cox Plate of greyhound racing, has brought together an A-list crop of sprinters all vying for Topgun supremacy.

Sitting up in the red is WA star Tommy Shelby in the hands of Kel Greenough for his Melbourne spring campaign.

Drawn alongside him in two and sure to have plenty of support is Shima Shine, the son of Barcia Bale the luckless runner in last year’s Topgun won by Get It Gizmo.

Drawn in box eight is four-time group 1 winning star Simon Told Helen while Tiggerlong Tonk will exit box five in his quest for a maiden group 1 triumph.

Catch The Thief will negotiate box six in the group 1 blockbuster while Adelaide Cup winner Golden Night will leave box seven.

Queenslander Oh Mickey trialed in between races tonight at The Meadows clocking 5.20, 17.90, 29.85sec first look at the track.

First reserve for the Topgun is Hard Style Rico which demolished a stellar field in Monday night’s Group 3 Silver Bullet posting a sizzling 29.48.

Sunset Bourbski also remains the TAB elect at $2.90 after drawing box three in the Group 1 TAB Topgun Stayers (725m).

It looks even at this stage with True Detective (box two) and Here’s Tears (box four) both sitting at the $3.30.

The old champ Tornado Tears finds himself in box six and around the $8 mark.
