When you have a great year of racing and your success has been recognised, what do you do? You keep on winning.

Avid Tyson, the winner of the 2013 Gawler Trackstar award, was back in action again on Tuesday. Jumping from box 3, Avid Tyson was able to lead a quality field from the start and ran an excellent time of 22.45 to win by just a neck. The time is just 0.01 second outside of the track record she set early last year and subsequently bettered by Cash or Credit, which finished fourth in the race today.

The unlucky greyhound striking Avid Tyson in such form was Aston Odin which ran second for Troy Murray of Two Wells, while Kihael Canon was third for Trevor Jessup of Croydon Park.

Avid Tyson is owned and trained by Tony Lagana of Gawler River. Avid Tyson is one member of the Emerley Carlos x Avid Willow litter that Tony bred and has enjoyed great success. The litter has in total won 94 races, with many more to come, while Avid Tyson has now chalked up its 33rd win. She has become a specialist over the 400m distance at Gawler, with the fantastic record of 23 wins and 7 places from 34 starts at the track.

In the previous race, another of the litter, Fire Tyson, also saluted. This dog is no slouch either, having notched up 30 wins and 23 places from 71 starts, putting nearly $100,000 in the bank in the process. Buoyed by the success of the litter, Tony opted very early to go for a repeat mating, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out. Tony enjoys his involvement with his greyhounds, which he finds a great hobby and a reason to get out and about. With such excellent results, it is hard to stop Tony smiling.

Murray Bridge trainer, Lisa Rasmussen, started the day off in fine form with a double from the first two races on the program. Dyna Gemma opened the account with an all the way win, while Dyna Yuma, which had been up with the leaders, came from behind to win race 2.

Racing continues every Tuesday afternoon and a Sunday twilight meeting is scheduled for the 30th March.
