RACING TO SHUT DOWN FROM MIDNIGHT LAST NIGHT UNTIL MIDNIGHT NEXT TUESDAY
Unfortunately with the government’s 6 day lockdown announcement yesterday, there will be no racing in South Australia from midnight last night (18/11), until midnight next Tuesday (24/11). GRSA is very hopeful we will return to racing at Gawler next Wednesday (25/11).
GAWLER WEDNESDAY 25TH NOVEMBER NOMINATIONS
GRSA will continue with the grading of meetings as normal past the 6 day lockdown which means the nominations for the Gawler meeting next Wednesday 25th November will close at 9am tomorrow (20th November) with GRSA.
If trainers are not nominating online please contact the Grader on 8243 7125 as there will be no access to the office to check for faxes or the nomination box.
BRIAN JOHNSTONE SEMI FINALS DELAYED UNTIL THURSDAY 3RD DECEMBER
One of the most prestigious series in the calendar, the Group 3 Brian Johnstone was to have had the Semi-Finals conducted tonight with the $37,500 Final run next Thursday, 26th November 2020.
However due to the 6 day lockdown, the indecision COVID-19 has placed on a return to racing and trainers inability to trial their greyhounds for this important series GRSA has decided to delay and run these Semi Finals on Thursday 3rd December 2020. This should give trainers sufficient time to prepare their greyhounds for these races. The Group 3 Final will now be run on Thursday 10th December which will also give the opportunity for Brian Johnstone’s family to be in attendance.
The Semi Finals will be the same greyhounds with the same box draw. This does not preclude any trainer from running these greyhounds prior to this date if they are fit and able. Trainers can choose to scratch their greyhounds free of penalty if they choose too due to the change in racing date.
In support of the $4,715 600m Final which was also meant to be conducted tonight, GRSA will also move this race to Thursday 3rd December.
With the change to the Brian Johnstone series for SA Bred greyhounds this will have an impact on other series to follow for the same type of eligible greyhounds so the Doug Payne SA Bred Feature on 3rd December, Heats of the AGRC/Murray Bridge Summer Oaks & Derby on Friday 11th December and Heats of the Gawler Classic over 531m on Sunday 27th December will likely be moved. These announcements will follow shortly.
NEWMAN MCDONNELL MEMORIAL DELAYED UNTIL DECEMBER AT MT GAMBIER
With the Mt Gambier meeting cancelled today due to the lockdown they had programmed heats of the Newman McDonnell Memorial Grade 5 over the 512m.
With these races not run the club will now program this series in December which will also allow the families to be in attendance for this Memorial series.
GOLDEN NIGHT & SIR TRUCULENT IN AT SANDOWN TOMORROW NIGHT
Good luck to both Sir Truculent for Wally Harkins in heat 1 of the Bold Trease at Sandown tomorrow night (race 1 6.19pm SA time) and Golden Night for Troy Murray in heat 2 of the Melbourne Cup (race 4 at 7.27pm SA time). Go the SA stars.
GRADING REVIEW PANEL MEETING (subject to lockdown)
The next Grading Review Panel meeting will be held at GRSA on Monday, 30th November 2020 at 11.30am subject to lockdown.
An agenda will be sent to the panel members shortly with grading related items to be discussed at the meeting.
GOLDEN MAIDEN HEATS AT GAWLER LATER THIS MONTH
The feature Maiden series in SA will be held at Gawler with $1,325 Heats of the Golden Maiden conducted on Sunday, 29th November over the 531m.
The $4,285 Final will be conducted on Sunday, 6th December.
