TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

The highlight of tonight’s 10 event programme is the return of 2016 Greyhound of the year Worm Burner,  he fronts up in race 8 from a tricky draw (6) and will find this more to his liking than his recent starts in Victoria.  Don’t miss race 9 which is a first class 600m event and the run to the 1st turn will be vital as they all have their fair share of ability.

Race 1 and a tricky one to start the night with several chances. I like Purpose Driven who can bounce back after falling here last start, she had a terrific record prior and will be hard to beat. Ruff State hasn’t had much luck of late and can run a cheeky race. Box Up 2.4.6.7.

Race 2 - All the chances will come from wide draws and Windmill Haze has been in fine form and loves being off the track. Aston Apollo has early pace and will be hard to beat if he can skip away early. Mighty Winston loves running a place and is a must for the trifecta. Box Up 5.6.7.8.

Race 3
- The Rasmussen kennel has been firing of late and have a handy one in Yes Sarge, she was run down here last week but is drawn to kick up and pinch this. Funky Monkey is well down in grade and will be running on late, add in Rosie Allen out in box 8 for the value in the pick 4. Box Up 1.3.7.8.

Race 4 - The Troy Murray kennel has a new one in Windsome Summer, her recent racing at Richmond has been more than handy. Columbian Flame has been mixing her form but is more than capable at each way odds. Box Up 3.4.5.8.

Race 5 - There is a lot of pace in this but I will stick with Tommy’s Tune out in box 7, he won here 2 runs back in good fashion and looks a big show in this. Zipping Nelson is my roughie in this as he will be rattling home late at big odds. Box Up 1.3.4.7.

Race 6 - I tipped her last week in the St Ledger final and she was very good although beaten right on the line and that is Dream A Little for the Jones kennel, she can win here and win well. Zipping Prince is boxed for a bold showing and loves to run a place, add in Allen Oregon for the multiples. Box Up 1.2.7.8.

Race 7 - There looks to be several chances so it makes for a good pick 4 race. Trace Amount failed to beat a runner home here last start but is a chance of running a bold race. Go Geronimo will be rattling home late and loves the inside draw, add in Hesa Jayclo who should find this more to his liking. Box Up 1.2.5.7.

Race 8 - Worm Burner returns in this and will find this a lot easier than his recent assignment’s in Victoria, he is a class act when on song and be very hard to beat. Molly Be Nimble is racing in terrific form and is the main danger to her kennel mate. Box Up 1.4.6.7.

Race 9 - How good is this 600 event and there are a heap of chances in the 6 dog event. She’s A Looper has won 5 of her 6 starts over this trip including a slick 34.96 win her from this draw 3 runs back. Texas Titan is a class act when left alone early and will be winding up into the back, we can’t leave out Zipping Gator who loves this track. Box Up 4.5.7.8.

Race 10 - Tough race to go home on but I like one here at good each way odds in Todd Bless, he won from this draw over the short at Gawler last start and has been in the money in 3 of his 4 starts at this venue. Royal Bling will start the punters elect and has been in fine form of late. Box Up 1.3.4.5.

2017 CLASSIC BET MOUNT GAMBIER CUP FINAL

Good luck to Mount Gambier on Sunday with the running of the 2017 Classic Bet Mt Gambier Cup Final.

The club ran 8 terrific heats last week and has drawn together a super field to be run on Sunday. The fastest qualifier for the final was Victorian trained Berry Bling for Nicole Stanley who ran a sizzling 29.74. Berry Bling won the SA Country Cup at Strathalbyn back in November representing the Mt Gambier GRC so knows how to win a feature final. Also qualifying was the locally bred and Victorian trained Mojito Mayhem who will be looking to make it back to back Mt Gambier Cup finals after taking out the race last year. He ran a slick 29.88 while Fabregal for Robyn Mackellar made the trip down from the Metro area and was very impressive winning her heat in 29.87 and might have the class edge on her rivals having won the Group 2 Bogie Leigh in Queensland back in April. With a few locals from the South East, a few locals from Adelaide and interstate flavour, the final should be one race not to be missed.

Other heat winners were Thanks Captain (29.92), Arabella Figg (30.23), Hutch (29.91), Colden Girl (29.77) and Harry Azrec (30.09). Final field listed below –

1. Thanks Captain - David Peckham
2. Mojito Mayhem - Peter Franklin
3. Berry Bling - Nicole Staley
4. Harry Aztec - Yvonne King
5. Arabella Figg - Peter Byrne
6. Hutch - Robert Halliday
7. Fabregal - Robyn Mackellar
8. Colden Girl Primrose Bryant
9. Master Tron - Ralph Patzel (1st Res)
10. Lyon Rose - Tracie Price (2nd Res)

The $10,000 2017 Classic Bet Mount Gambier Cup Final ($7,000 to the winner) will be run as race 7 at 1.49pm with coverage for this race on Sky Racing 1.

UBET are offering a $5,000 Jackpot First 4 on the final with the pool expected to reach more than $20,000.

There is one Consolation of the Cup run as race 8 with the $2,000 The Produce Store Maiden Final run as race 4. There is also a $1,500 Formula 400 Open Feature (400m) run as race 5 and the $2,000 Blue Lake 600 Grade 5 Series Final to be run as race 6 over the 600m.
Racing kicks off at 11.51am, with the last of 12 races to jump at 3.27pm with selected races covered on Sky Racing 1 & 2.

AGRC MEMBERS LUCKY DOG DRAW
Each year we have drawn 4 names for each week’s Thursday APK race 8, next to each name is the box number of the dog you have drawn in Race 8.

If your box number happens to win Race 8, you can renew your membership next year (30th June) for half price. If you happen to own or train greyhounds racing on the date that your name has been drawn, you can choose to have your dogs drawn instead of the lucky box number and it works the same if your dog drawn happens to win.  It is up to you to notify an AGRC committee member on the night that you want to take up this option and we will randomly draw one of your dogs competing on the night. AGRC Committee members are Alan Amezdroz, Barry Stewart, Petar Jovanovic, Melissa Trowbridge, Gabe Vistolli and Gavin Harris.
