Angle Park - Thursday Preview - 2/2/17
by The Shadow
Another huge night of racing at headquarters tonight and yes another whopping 12 event programme. The major highlight is a terrific FFA event which is race 8, we see the champ in Worm Burner out in box 6 taking on the likes of Fabregal, Snakebite Bale, Gun McBain and Coorong Kid. I like a few at handy odds throughout the night and don’t forget all races are trifecta and first 4 events and that is where we can pick up some handy dividends.
Race 1 and a tricky one to kick off with the punters elect will be the classy youngster in High Eden Frost. He can be hit and miss early so you wouldn’t want to take skinny odds about him but he is smart when up there early, add in Are Ate who is well drawn along with What’s Up Trump who is resuming and is very smart. Box Up 1.2.6.7.
Race 2 - Here is one at good odds and that is Windmill Haze. He flew home to win last start at Gawler and is drawn for a bold showing. Inequity is very smart when on song but has been missing the kick of late. Funky Monkey was a last start winner here from a rails draw and is amongst the chances. Box Up 2.4.5.8.
Race 3 - We have to venture out wide for the winner here and the Martin Doyle trained Bekalia’s Girl has struck form with two handy wins here she will be hard to beat again. Royal Bling has only had the 3 career starts and is making his city debut. Box Up 1.6.7.8.
Race 4 and we see the return of the Kath Johnstone trained Fusaichi Kahn, he hasn’t raced since November when he finished unplaced. The old fellow is very capable when on song as is his owner and can’t be overlooked. Regal Looper has his paw on the till and will be very hard to beat. Box Up 1.2.4.8.
Race 5 - The Butcher kennel is ON FIRE at the moment and they should win again with their well named youngster from box 2, add in Wheel Spinner who will be right in the finish and Pawesome Boss who was a big run in the John Gray final here last week. Box Up 1.2.4.6.
Race 6 - This is a high quality 600m event and Texas Titan loves this trip and had a good hit out over the sprint here last week when 2nd behind Worm Burner. He is well drawn and looks the one to beat. Sutton Steele will be in the mix again as will be Keroma Storm who will be rattling home. Box Up 1.4.7.8.
Race 7 - This is a good wide open affair and I lean towards Venetian Mask, forget her recent form as she is a lot better than that, the box suits so expect a big improvement. Cyclone Clifford is well drawn and will be doing his best work late. Box Up 1.2.3.7.
Race 8 - The FFA and its hard to tip against Worm Burner as he just loves winning and as mentioned last week he would crack the $300,000 mark if he was successful and yes he was. Fabregal will set the early pace as she is a faultless beginner and Snakebite Bale who tasted defeat for the first time here in SA will be rattling home. Box Up 3.4.5.6.
Race 9 - Lisa Rasmussen rarely goes home without a winner and Rock Away can run an improved race here from box 3, she has been mixing her form of late but appears a chance in this. Zipping Prince will find this a lot easier than his recent runs and is very close to another win. Box Up 3.4.6.8.
Race 10 - The Distance affair of the night with 5 runners, we will make Springvale Bryne the standout for the trifecta as she will set the pace and win again. Miss Gambino and Long Gully Gilly for the minors. 1 from 2.4.6.
Race 11 - This is a good even race with several chances so we need to add a bit of value to try and get a handy result for the trifecta and first 4. My value runner is Garry McBain, he doesn’t win many but knows how to run a place, the main chances look to be Deed and Shez Rocking, add in Zoltan Bale for the multiples. Box Up 1.5.6.7.
Race 12 and we can go home on a winner with the Nicole Newlyn trained Egyptian Diva, her best racing of late has been from wide draws but from box 1 should be able to kick up and hold the lead. Precious Parker is one at good odds to add in our first 4 as is Ready To Mingle. Box Up 1.3.6.7.

BOGIE BEKIM IN GALAXY FINAL SATURDAY NIGHT
All local eyes will be on Cannington in WA just after 11pm on Saturday night when Bogie Bekim trained by Ben Rawlings goes for Group 1 glory in the final of the $100,000 to the winner Galaxy Final.
Bogie Bekim qualified by running a handy second last week in his heat when he landed second and wasn’t able to get past the leader, Woodvale Flyer. On Saturday night he is much better suited drawn in box 8 where he can muster early so hopefully he can push forward and find the front. He is in race 5 on the program with the other highlight on the night being race 7 the Group 1 Perth Cup featuring Astrozone, Pepper Fire and Times Square.
Good luck to all connections on Saturday night and we hope Bogie Bekim can get the chocolates for SA.

SATURDAY MORNING TRIALS PROCEDURE
With some recent issues in regard to the Saturday morning trials at Angle Park, trial staff have advised that to make it simpler and clearer for participants and employees that there will be one block per distance where FOL, Catching Pen, Handlsips etc will be booked rather than having this separated.
Trainers will get their number as normal for that distance and no one else will have the same number over that distance to stop any confusion. As per normal after every 10 trials there will be a track grade and they then move to the next distance (likely starting with 515m). GRSA will trial this for a period of time and I ask that participants please be patient with their fellow industry members and GRSA staff.
FINAL NIGHT FOR MARK AISTON TONIGHT
Tonight is Mark’s final night for filling in for normal MC Ray Fewings at Angle Park.
He has done a super job over the last month and we really appreciate Mark’s professionalism and attention to detail. Ray Fewings will be back next week in his normal role.

AGRC MEMBERS LUCKY DOG DRAW
Each year we have drawn 4 names for each week’s Thursday APK race 8, next to each name is the box number of the dog you have drawn in Race 8. If your box number happens to win Race 8, you can renew your membership next year (30th June) for half price.
If you happen to own or train greyhounds racing on the date that your name has been drawn, you can choose to have your dogs drawn instead of the lucky box number and it works the same if your dog drawn happens to win. It is up to you to notify an AGRC committee member on the night that you want to take up this option and we will randomly draw one of your dogs competing on the night.
