TELLING THE TAIL
by The Shadow

Tonight’s racing is certainly not to be missed, the 11 event programme is very strong and for mine there are several good betting races. The highlights are certainly Race 5, which is a very strong 600 event in which we see at least 4 chances in a 6 dog event. Venture to Races 6, 7 and 8 over the sprint and the quality is at an all-time high. Add in the 731m and there is a mix of pace and strength so there are no certainties in that. All in all we should be able to snare a few winners and build a bank early.

Race 1 - Lets kick off with the well performed Rhynstone Jetta. He will find this a lot easier than his last start 4th behind the high flying Fabregal. He won his previous 3 here all in good fashion and should win again tonight. Add in Regal Looper and Dodger I Am who will be flying home late. Box Up 3.5.6.7.

Race 2 - Don’t Kid Me led here last start only to be run down in quick time. He can do the same again here but can hang on and win. Zipping Bianca is another who will be on the pace and should figure in the trifecta. Box Up 1.2.3.8

Race 3 - This is the distance affair for the night and a handy one at that. The pace will come from Danyo’s Tom who has been run down in his recent runs but I think he might be able to skip away early and hold on. Mobius will be rattling home and if close enough early would salute Jet Setting is a must for the top 3 Box Up 1.3.4.8.

Race 4 - Troy Murray rarely goes home without a winner and Backpacker has won his past 2 here both from box 8 in good fashion, from box 1 he can kick up and hold the lead. Penny Maker has early pace but gets a little weary over the last 50. Add in my roughie of the night Mighty Quoted out in box 8. Box Up 1.4.5.8.

Race 5 - Texas Titan is in outstanding form winning his last 3 over the sprint he will be last early but flies home and is a treat to watch. He will start the punters elect as should Eduardo who has a perfect record of 2 from 2 over this trip and should set the pace with a little bit of luck he might pinch this. With a couple of scratchings the 2 and the 7 should battle out third. Box Up 1.4.7.2.

Race 6 - Absolute class that’s all I can say about Fabregal, she has been trained to the minute by Robyn Mackellar in recent months and she returned from a very successful interstate campaign when she flew the lids and won by a massive 7.7L in a sensational 29.39, she wins again. Marlow Brown can fill a place as will Dyna Keitaro. Box Up 4.6.7.8.

Race 7 - I like Scarp Missile here down in box 1 for the Jessup kennel. She has a good turn of early pace and from the draw might be a chance of pinching this at each way odds.  Kalispell was a last winner here in sub 30 and will be hard to beat again. Getty Bale is always a chance as is Junner Bale. Box Up 1.2.5.8

Race 8 - The Cameron Butcher kennel has arrived with a very strong team tonight as they normally do but the star of their team is Coorong Kid. He takes on the best and beats the best so he is my top pick again. Gun McBain has the perfect draw down in box 1 and should set the early pace. Caustic Bale will be high flying late but needs a lot of luck in the run. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 9 - This is a very good betting race with several chances. I like Flash Of Hope who has struggled to win but can pinch a very open affair. Fear The Blue and Maca McLennan can fill the placings. Box Up 2.3.5.7 in a very open affair.

Race 10 - Trigger Bling is in fine form since crossing the border and from the rails draw looks very hard to beat and can break through. Pawesome Boss looks the improver and will be at good odds from box 4, he is my big SMOKEY for the night. Bounce Pass is always around the mark for the trifecta punters. Box Up 2.4.5.8.

Race 11 – In another open race we want to be in front coming to the last with several chances. I like Bathtub Teddy to win ahead of Yorke Express and Fury Road. Box Up 1.4.6.7

ADDITIONAL SUNDAY RACING FOR MT GAMBIER

The Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club has been given approval by the GRSA Board to run an additional meeting each month until the end of the financial year on a trial basis.

The extra Sunday meetings will aim to cater for lower class and maiden greyhounds as well as generally supporting the opportunity for trainers to gain a start which may otherwise have been denied to them under current scheduling.

The additional racing will be on –

Sunday 22nd May 2016

Sunday 19th June 2016

The club will continue to run their normal Friday meeting prior to these Sundays.

Racing on the Friday and Sunday of these weeks will provide that extra opportunity once a month for those greyhounds unable to gain a start.

These meetings will be graded under these conditions –

  • The Mount Gambier GRC will have their main meeting for that weekend graded first.
  • Those greyhounds who gain a start in one meeting will be considered at the end for the other meeting allowing for greater participation.
  • There will be an opportunity for greyhounds to “Beat The Grader” allowing for the chance to win two races for only one grade.
  • The Mount Gambier GRC will program additional Heat and Finals to accommodate this pool of greyhounds.
