MEDIA RELEASE – TONIGHTS ANGLE PARK PREVIEW

TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

After four fantastic weeks of racing we can settle down and look at the local performer’s tonight.

Race 1 and there are several chances in this but the inside draw has got me with Contrarian for Karen Bearpark.  He has been racing below his best of late but looks the big improver.  Dee Dee Corsair has his paw on the till and will be carving across early.  Add in Playing It Cool.  Box Up 1-3-4-6.

The second event and nothing jumps out at you but Tyson Willow is ultra-consistent and has the ability to overcome box 4.  From The Top is another who hasn’t missed a place in recent runs along with Power Merc.  Box Up 1-4-5-6.

Now this looks a good trifecta race with two main chances in Faust’s Forever and the pacey Grainne O’Malley.  Both have different racing styles but I am leaning towards the red.  Box Up 1-6-7-8.

Race 4 and unfortunetaly last years Adelaide Cup winner Spud Regis has been scratched and will miss this years Cup series due to injury.  I don’t think there’s much between Kalden Kurageous and Fair Change but leaning towards the red here with Allen Dion for third.  Box Up 1-4-7-8 and we shouldn’t miss…….haha.

Kaylarikki has been in fine form over the sprint and can win here.  Add in Victa Scott and Allen Bardolf for the minors. Box Up 1-3-5-8.

Race 6 now this is a very good betting race as there are several chances. Joja Stan has been runner up in his last 3 and is more than capable of breaking through.  The other chances are Koubek who will be running on.  Carlos Tyson who loves this draw and Wonder Whirl who is very smart WHEN on song.  Box Up 1-2-6-8.

The SA Prelude is race 7 and this is a chance for the Kath Johnstone performer in Encosta Kahn to return to the winner’s circle.  He has the pace to lead from box 6.  Cousin Callum will be handy early and the old fellow will be running on.  Box Up 1-2-5-6.

Race 8 is another SA Prelude and Hope’s Up looks the best bet of the night.  Despite her draw of 5 she will lead and win.  Just Shine who was racing well several months ago is resuming and can run a cheeky race.  Box Up 3-5-6-8.

The distance event of the night is race 9 and we see a newcomer in Proven Daisy who has transferred into the Troy Murray kennel.  She hasn’t raced since her 5th at Wenty Park but has 13 wins and 10 placing’s beside her name in 57 career runs.

She should lead and win, the dangers if any are Husky Dreamer for John Gale and Sheza Ten.  Box Up 4-5-7-8.

Race 10 and this performer can be hit and miss and that is Kalden Kapone.  He is very smart when on the bunny and should be far too smart for this field tonight.  Dyna Erwin and Pepper Khan can fill the placing’s.  Box Up 1-4-5-6.

The final event and Galaxy Snow is an awkward type who has only won 2 of 20 but is a lot better than form suggests.  Only needs an ounce of luck from box 5 to win.  Poison has the red for Lisa Rasmussen and can kick up on the rails.  Bomber Kahn is knocking on the door and is a must for all trifecta punters.  Box Up 1-3-4-5.

Good Luck Happy Punting……………..

JOKE OF THE WEEK

A guy was walking along the street when he saw a crowd of people running towards him. He stopped one of the runners and asked: “What’s happening?” The runner replied breathlessly: “A lion has escaped from the zoo.” “Oh my, which way is it heading?” “Well you don’t think we are chasing it, do you?”

ADELAIDE CUP TRIALS

The excitement is building up to next week’s series with the likes of Group 1 Megastar winner Peter Rocket and local speedster SA Derby winner Ernie Bung Arrow all confirmed for the Adelaide Cup heats however tonight we have a few exciting types trialling from the powerful Jason Thompson kennel in preparation for the Group 1 series.

Jason will trial Ronan Izmir a winner of 26 races from 42 starts with 9 placings and $162,000 in prizemoney who has won the Group 2 Warrnambool and Bendigo Cups in Victoria already this season. Powerhouse who has won 15 races from 33 starts and $56,000 prizemoney who won the consolation of the Canberra Cup last start and Phenomenal who is one of the most exciting chasers in the country who has won 8 races from 15 starts including a brilliant 29.27 win at Sandown in June. These greyhounds will trial between races 1 & 2, 2 & 3 and 3 & 4. Jason knows how to train an Adelaide Cup winner with the likes of champion El Galo winning in 2009 and flying machine Whippy’s Image in 2008.

GAWLER TRIALS– OFFICE CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS
Due to staffing issues over the last few weeks the Gawler Office was closed on Wednesdays like it is on Thursdays. This has been working quite well and efficiently with Scott Volbrecht taking the money for the trials at the boxes. This will process will continue so please have the correct money available to assist the race night staff. Race fields will still be available oncourse.

BOOKMAKER PETER DAMARELL ONCOURSE EVERY WEDNESDAY AT ANGLE PARK

Bookmaker Peter Damarell will be on-course every Wednesday betting competitive fixed odd markets on the full programme at Angle Park. Peter will also display all bookmaker prices from the thoroughbred meetings in South Australia and the meetings in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This is a major bonus for oncourse patrons as there will now be no need to make the long drive to Gawler, Balaklava, Murray Bridge or Strathalbyn as the very same bookmakers prices will be available at Angle Park every Wednesday. Touch screens have also been installed at Angle Park to assist with race form every meeting.

Punters can enjoy the comfort of the Angle Park betting auditorium and it’s free to get in. No more hot or cold old betting rings after a long drive. Why not give it a try?

Please tell your thoroughbred friends about this outstanding opportunity. Save your entry fee and petrol and participate in the opportunity to win a free $50 betting voucher drawn on the day with Peter Damarell’s compliments.

NEW BOOKING NUMBER FOR TRIALS

From last Monday 23rd September participants who wish to book trials have to ring 8243 7172. This phone line will only be used for trial bookings and will queue participants.  By having this one number with participants queuing makes this process to be a more efficient way of booking trials.  There will be NO trials accepted through the normal administration number.  To be fair to everyone GRSA will only accept bookings using the new number.

Please make yourself aware of the new number for booking trials.
