TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

With only 10 races on the programme tonight we will have to pick a couple of winners early in the evening.  The two finals of the State National Championships will definitely be the highlights.

Race 1 and Wonder Whirl showed a glimpse of what she can do when a strong 4th here last start.  She has been racing below her best but can bounce back into the winner’s circle tonight.   Life’s Cool is the main danger; add in Koubek who will be rattling home and Go Harvey Go for the pick 4.  Box Up 1-2-3-4-5

Race 2 and the inside four are the tips in race book order.  Pandora Kist looks a stand out from box 1 and then box up 2-4 for the pick 4.  Box Up 1-2-3-4

Carlos Tyson will find race 3 a lot easier than last start where he ran 5th behind Young Snozzin the Sprint heats.  The Brindle sprinter will be charging home over the early leaders in Yasi Girl and Whishez.  Add in the newcomer Sir Al for a bit of value.  Box Up 1-3-4-8.

Race 4 on the card is an interesting race as Remember Cestria needs to lead and if she does it will be all over, however, box 5 is the worry.  Jetson Kist will be running on late and only needs an ounce of luck early to be right in this.  Add in Zipping Woody who is another who will be working home late along with Cawbourne Flute who is in terrific form.  Box Up 1-5-6-8.

Race 5 and there is a heap of early pace in this.  I am tipping Benchmark from box 2 to kick up and hold the lead.  Grainne O’Malley will be crunching down from box 6 and is racing well.  Perfect Life for Kenny Gill has drawn the red and will be the one making the late ground.  Box Up 1-2-3-6.

Race 6 is the State Distance Final.  Kalden Mayhem got a reprieve with the scratching of Max A Zillion and will start favourite and should bounce back into the winners list.  Cousin Callum is the next most experienced and has been content to run 2nd of late and will probably do the same tonight.  Prince Holyfield is racing well and should get the early sit.  Box Up 1-2-3-9.

Race 7 and this is a very good betting race, as the early leader should win.  The pace will be coming from 2-4-8. Aston Odin is my pick despite the draw of 4 and he is no slouch when on the bunny.  Just Shine hasn’t had much luck of late and is more than capable when on song.  If you are looking for a bit of value have a little wager on Significant Bit who is more than capable, but has been missing the kick of late.  Box Up 4-6-7-8.

The State Sprint Final is race 8 tonight.  Hopes Up is the best sprinter here in South Australia at the moment.  She had to work very hard last week after missing the kick but still proved too strong and is a winner of her last 4 starts.  She looks the one to beat.  The main dangers are the Troy Murray pair in Kalden Mischief and Kalden Kurageous.  Add in Young Snozz who is well drawn down on the fence.  Box Up 2-4-5-6.

Race 9 and this looks to be a two dog race. Tercel has drawn the pole and should jump straight to the front, he loves the 600m.  The main danger is the in-form Senni Tony for Colin Swain who is another who has early pace and will run the quinella.  Box Up 1-3-6-8.

Race 10 and the Shaun Matcott trained Dyna Erwin can send us home on a winning note.  The inside draw is a bonus and he is strong.  Annie Walker and Burra Badgirl can fill the placing’s.  Box Up 1-4-6-7.

JOKE OF THE WEEK

Her minister told an eighty-year-old woman that, at her age, she should be giving some thought to what he called “the hereafter.” She said to him, “I think about it many times a day.”
“Oh, really?” said the minister. “That is very wise.”
“It’s not a matter of wisdom,” she replied. “It’s when I open a drawer or a closet, I ask myself, ‘What am I here after?’”

MAIDENS FOR MONDAY NIGHT

Recently we have had to extend Monday night nominations at Angle Park regularly with last Monday night only gaining enough support for 10 races. When we run the monthly Maiden heat from Wednesday to Monday the fields seem to hold up fine. We will now start programming Open Maiden events at Angle Park on Monday night over the 515m on the nights we do not have the monthly final. This will start from the meeting at Angle Park on Monday 19th August with these races now updated in the current August and September All Tracks calendar.

Please make sure that Trainers collect this money oncourse at each meeting. For weekend meetings (includes Mt Gambier Fridays) this money is being paid electronically into Trainers accounts.
