TELLING THE TAIL by The Shadow

Well tonight on paper it doesn’t look any easier but as always I like to tip a bit of value so we won’t be chasing the odds on favourites to try and line the wallets.

Race 1 and the inside four look to be the chances.  Several need to lead and win and the others will be charging home over the top of them.  I will stick with Linguist who hopefully will be running on and from his draw of 2.  He can definitely win, box up 1-2-3-4 and we shouldn’t miss the multiples.

Ben Rawlings has a handy one in Wiregrass in race 2.  She has won her last 3 here all in handy times and her early pace will help her cross and lead.  The main dangers look to be Italian Passion and Belford who are both racing well.  Box up 1-4-6-8.

On to the third event and the Rawlings kennel look to have a big chance with a race to race double. Bogie Prince is well drawn down on the fence and looks the likely leader.  Galaxy Snow will be right in the mix and is nicely drawn out in the 6.  He is coming off a 30.01 win here from box 7 at his latest effort.  Box up 1-2-6-7.

Cawbourne Flute can start at each way odds and can kick up from box 2 and hold the lead in race 3.  He has been working back to his best form and will be ripped out of the black book with a poor performance tonight.  Good Asset Gets was poor last week but was only beaten just under 4L.  She is better than recent form suggests and is right in this.  Add Whishez who is the inform runner but might find an ounce of trouble from the poor draw.  Box up 2-3-5-6.

Here is a certainty in race 4, but she will be in the red, that is Victa Brooke with 2 slick wins in recent runs here and at Gawler.  She appears far too good for this lot.  Russian Fighter is always thereabouts and is a chance for the top 3 along with the Leanne Fagan trained Morabito thrown in for a bit of value. My numbers are 1-2-5-8.

Race 5  is more open than it looks on paper.  I have gone for the early pace and Kalden Mishief for Troy Murray will appreciate the firmer track and should cross from box 6.  There appears to be a heap of chances for the trifecta.  So box up 1-5-6-7.

Just Shine is the in-form runner here in South Australia and led throughout for a BON 30.13 last start from box 7 and looks the one to beat in race 7.  He has now won 3 on the trot ALL in BON, the other 7 can fill a place but I have gone with 1-2-3-5.

Get out the cash and the milk money in race 8 where Wonder Whirl will bounce back and win tonight after a little hiccup last week.

She missed the kick and still ran 3rd although well beaten.  She should bounce back and win.  Box up 2-4-6-8.

A handy 600m event is race 9 where Zulu Miss has her paw on the till and has been runner up at her last two runs.  The small field of 6 will be a bonus and looks very hard to beat.  Azz Always, that’s not a pun,  is racing well over 700m and is back to 600m here tonight.  He will run a strong race, Victa Victoria and the out of form Curlwaa Hope, to run the minors.

The last couple are very open and if we are struggling for a winner by now we are in BIG trouble !!!!  Box up 1-4-7-8 in race 10 and in the last 1-2-6-8. Happy punting Good luck

LOCAL INDUSTRY NEWS

CHAMPION PUPPY HEATS

Yesterday (Wednesday) saw three Heats of the 2013 Champion Puppy at Angle Park.

The first heat was won in impressive fashion by a new comer to the powerful Troy Murray kennel in Kalden Kapone. Troy has had great success with the “Kalden” dogs bred in Western Australia by Dan Biddle and Kalden Kapone looks a handy type in the making. He was able to accelerate to the front early in the event after a minor bump and from there was never headed running a slick 29.88 for the 515m journey defeating Tatiara Boy by 3 lengths.

The second heat saw boom chaser Dustnado step out and he didn’t disappoint his supporters. Trained by Steve Hoffmann he started a very short price and justified that by leading throughout in combatable fashion. He won by 10 lengths from Emerley Zodiak rating a sizzling 29.73 and clearly looks the one to beat throughout the series.

Highly promising Ernie Bung Arrow remained undefeated in heat 3 with a solid win defeating Galilee Spirit by over 8 lengths in a handy 30.06. Trained by Ken Gill Ernie Bung Arrow had won his first four starts all over the 400m sprint trip at Gawler and Angle Park before stepping up to the 515m yesterday. Whilst he got a little tired on the line he should be even greater improved by the run.

The two semi finals will be run next Thursday night at Angle Park with the first four from each race progressing to the Final to be run on Thursday 25th July. Prizemoney for the 2013 Final will be $6,875.

TRAINERS FEE FROM 1ST JULY

The Trainers Fee has started this month with $25 being paid per trainer and $5 per greyhound at all TAB and Non TAB meetings. For weekday meetings this money is being paid out at the track at Angle Park and Gawler and we appreciate the assistance of the Gawler GRC with the dispersion of this money. Please make sure that Trainers collect this money oncourse at each meeting. For weekend meetings (includes Mt Gambier Fridays) this money is being paid electronically into Trainers accounts. Please ensure that you have advised GRSA of your account details on the appropriate forms so this money can be transferred easily.

GREYHOUND OF THE MONTH – JUNE

In a tight Month of voting the Ossie Chegia trained flyer Flying Tee was awarded the Greyhound of the Month for June.

He has been in outstanding form recently with three wins from three starts for the month all at Gawler.

The son of Collision and Emma Tee started the month off with a brilliant win in a heat of the 2013 Gawler Classic where he won by 6 lengths in a sizzling 30.44. He then started one of the favourites for the final where he did a super job to defeat a hot line up which included reigning SA Sprint Champion Fire Tyson in a flying 30.47 in winning by 2 lengths.

His final start for the month was in the heat of the rich Gawler Produce series where he blitzed his rivals in winning by 7.25 lengths in a brilliant 30.42 and would start a short priced favourite for his semi final.

At the end of the month Flying Tee’s career record stands at 16 starts with 8 wins and 5 placings, and earnings just under $27,000.

RUN OF THE MONTH - JUNE

The Run of the Month for June was Hope’s Up for trainer Cam Butcher who produced a scintillating performance at Gawler in a mixed 3/4 event over the 531m on Tuesday 4th June. The reigning SA Greyhound of the Year looked right back to her brilliant best with a comfortable win. She began well from box 8 before being checked early in the running. She balanced up and down the back straight she powered to the front taking over of the back straight. She raced away from her rivals putting an 8 length margin into them at the finishing line. Her first split of 3.16 was sizzling however the overall time of 30.31 was low flying and only .08 outside Regional Image’s track record which has stood for 10 years.

There could have been another two Run of the Months out of the June 4 meeting with Emerley Lover winning the Future Stars in a slick 30.36 and Cash Or Credit breaking the 400m track record in running 22.34 for the sprint course.
