TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

With several highlights on tonight’s programme the pick of them would have to be race 8 the 2017 Doug Payne SA Bred feature over the sprint, all runners certainly have their fair share of ability and will be a chance to claim the $6,500 first prize. The other terrific events to follow is the 600m, race 5 and the distance affair, race 6 where we will see Topology make his debut over the longer journey. The kennel to follow is the Rasmussen team; I think they can have a terrific night. Don’t forget all the UBET jackpot bonuses tonight including the $10,000 guaranteed trifecta jackpot on race 1.

Race 1 - We kick off the night with a very open affair and the pace will come from Alpha Alexander in box 4, he has been run down in the final stages here in recent starts but should be able to break through with moderate beginners drawn on his inside. Diego Bale finally broke through after 8 attempts and is drawn for a bold showing again. Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 2 - The Rasmussen team rarely go home without a winner and they have a big chance with the well-drawn Larrikin Locky down in box 1, he will find this more to his liking and we will put him on top. Tyla Grace will be our value runner as she has early pace and is a must for the first four punters as is Jays Ace who will be doing his best work over the last 100m. Box Up 1.4.5.6.

Race 3 – Mr. Arjay can find early trouble but is still in the mix as he will be running on strongly. I like one here at each way odds in Becky Bale as she can kick up early and prove hard to hold out. Tag And Release won from this draw five starts back and appears a trifecta hope. Box Up 2.4.6.8.

Race 4 - Rock Away showed plenty of cheek from this draw last week when 2nd behind the inform Spring Bloom and she is a leading contender along with Chief Bale who can improve but is a moderate on box rise Box Up 2.3.6.7.

Race 5 - This is a high quality 600m event with at least 4 chances, the pace will come from Sutton Steele and Shaun’s Entity while Spring Bloom and She’s A Looper along with Romans Legend will be running on late, put them all together and we won’t miss. Box Up 2.3.5.7

Race 6 - The Ben Rawlings kennel has been flying of late and they have stepped up Topology tonight over the731m journey, he has won 3 of his past 5 over the 600m in quick times and by big margins so the extra trip doesn’t look a problem, we will put him on top. Springvale Carla has been in the money in 5 of her 9 runs over the 731m but is very tardy early. Add in Long Gully Gilly who has a handy record and was a last start winner here for the trifecta. Box Up 1.2.3.8.

Race 7 - The Rawlings kennel can go a race to race double if Norah Bale continues on her recent form, she won here leading throughout in 30.21 from box 8 last week and looks the likely leader again. Octane Sadie is well drawn and is capable of surprising, add Premier Zed out wide for our trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.6.

Race 8 - This is the Doug Payne Feature and its worth $6,500 to the winner I will go with the out of luck Hukanui down in box 2, he is a class performer when on song but has fell and been checked out the back at his last 2 runs, he can bounce back in this and looks the measuring stick for mine. Molly Dobbs is another who is very smart when on the lure so she is a must for our trifecta. Windmill Haze will find this more to his liking and loves a wide draw and will be right in the finish. Box Up 2.4.7.8.

Race 9 - This is the Open event of the night and we will stick with Cairlea Kenny down in box 1, he found a heap of trouble here last start and finished unplaced, he won his previous 3 here all in good fashion and can bounce back from his draw. High Eden Frost has been the bridesmaid at his last 3 and will come out running, he looks a certainty for the minors. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 10 - Greysynd Ebony has struck form with 2 strong wins here in good times at her past couple, she is well drawn again tonight and will prove very hard to beat again. Terpillar looks the improver from a rail draw and is a chance of running a cheeky race at handy odds. Box Up 1.3.7.8.

Race 11 - Its always good to go home on a winner and we can do that with Bell Of Eden for the Rawlings kennel, she can be hit and miss on box rise but with an ounce of luck she will prove very hard to beat. Tiger’s Empire and Bushiri for the minors but a big watch on the reserve Total Magic who was well in the market last start. Box Up 1.2.5.9

DOUG PAYNE SA BRED FEATURE TONIGHT

The time honoured Doug Payne SA Bred Feature FFA will be run tonight at Angle Park. With terrific support from our trainers the race has drawn together a super field to contest the SA Bred Feature.
It’s an outstanding field with the likes of brilliant sprinter Hukanui taking on recent Group 3 Gawler Cup winner Windmill Haze along with high quality performers Rip It Ralph, Molly Dobbs, Hesa Marlow and Slipper’s Time. Exciting prospect Zinfandel Zara will be having only her 5th race start tonight but has shown enough in her 3 wins to be a big chance against the “big boys”. McLaren Chief looks the outsider but has drawn perfectly in box 1.What a race it promises to be!!!!
The race is worth $9,365 to be run as race 8 at 9.04pm (SA time) and is a Non Penalty FFA Event.
Good Luck to all contestants tonight in one of the feature races for SA Bred greyhounds.

GRADE 5 FEATURE HEATS TONIGHT

Tonight we have four heats of the Feature Grade 5 series to be run over the 515m. The first two from each heat will qualify for the $4,590 final to be run on Thursday 14th December.
The next Low Grade series will be a Mixed Masters series over the 515m with heats on Thursday 28th December and $4,590 final on Thursday 4th January. The series will be for greyhounds 3 ¾ yo or over. All grades are eligible for these heats. All races are Non Penalty.

AGRC MEMBERS XMAS DINNER TONIGHT

The Adelaide Greyhound Racing Club Members Xmas Dinner is on tonight at Chasers. We hope they have an enjoyable evening this festive season.

GROUP 1 BRISBANE CUP TONIGHT

After four heats of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup last week the Albion Park feature has drawn together an outstanding field of chasers to be run tonight. Interestingly it is an all Queensland affair with no Interstate greyhounds making the final. The likes of Spring Time Girl, Slick and Fast Times look the top contenders.
The winning connections take home $75,000 so the final should be keenly contested.

GRP & ICG MEETING’S IN DECEMBER

The next Grading Review Panel meeting will be held tomorrow with the Industry Consultative Group being held on Friday 15th December.

BOGIE BEKIM SHOOTING FOR GROUP 3 SUMMER CUP AT WENTWORTH PARK ON SATURDAY

Star SA stayer Bogie Bekim for trainer Ben Rawlings did the job last Saturday night in winning his heat of the Group 3 Summer Cup at Wentworth Park.
The other heat winner was the Rob Britton trained superstar Fanta Bale so it makes for a great contest this Saturday night. Bogie Bekim has drawn box 6 while Fanta Bale has drawn 8 and not to discount the other finalists it looks a match race between the two. With first prize being $25,000 it is well worth winning and it would be great to see Bogie Bekim edge out Fanta Bale again like he did in the Group 2 Topgun Stayers at the Meadows last month. It will be race 6 on Saturday night due to start at 8.05pm (SA Time).
The Rawlings team also have Pyredos Monelli engaged in race 10 on the program. He has been undefeated in SA since coming across from WA winning his last 4 starts but faces a stiff test in Grade 4 company at Wentworth Park with the likes of Group performer Not Available engaged.
We wish them the best of luck.

ONLINE & PHONE BOOKINGS OF TRIALS FOR ANGLE PARK AND GAWLER  FROM 11.30AM

GRSA received feedback in regard to the Online Trial booking process for both Gawler Wednesday and Angle Park Tuesday and Saturday trial sessions.  This process of online bookings is fully supported by the ICG and GRSA Board and will continue to grow over time.
• To encourage the move from 100% phone bookings to online GRSA made the decision to separate the booking times from 12.30pm, to 11.30am for online and 12.30pm for phone. This has worked successfully and reduced the number of phone calls dramatically. This encourages participants to manage their own bookings.  However GRSA believes that the separation is now no longer required so both online and phone bookings will now be at 11.30am for trial sessions.  It was decided to go to 11.30am due to the commitment participants have made to the online process and worked their schedule around this time being at home or near their device to book.
Whilst having the bookings at the same time the trial booking phone line will still be 08 8243 7172. No trials will be accepted on any other phone line; participants will be queued as normal and will not be taken before 11.30am. Our staff member will attempt to book your phone trials in a timely manner bearing in mind participants will be booking online at the same time. I would encourage all participants to move to the online process as this is quicker, easier and they can have the flexibility to manage the process themselves.
• It is important for all participants to realise that at any point from 11.30am when the trials open to around 3.30pm the day of the trial session (or day before for Saturday) they can log on or ring up and manage their bookings. They may be able to move earlier or later if there has been a cancellation etc, it really does provide an option if their time is unsuitable.

NOTIFICATION OF TRAINING AMENDMENT & CLEARANCE OF GREYHOUNDS

Trainers are reminded of their obligation to notify GRSA within 3 working days of a greyhound coming into or leaving their kennel (Rule 105(4)(i)).  This is a requirement for all greyhounds regardless of where bred.  We have had a number of trainers recently put in training amendments late the night prior to nominations closing at 9am the following day, this practice can lead to your nomination not being accepted or being unable to nominate online should any issues arise the following morning.
Trainers are also leaving it to the night before nominations close to have greyhounds “checked off”.  This practice can also lead to your nomination not being accepted or being unable to nominate online should any issues arise. It is therefore in the trainer’s best interest to have lodged with GRSA the training amendment and clearance of the greyhound a number of days prior to wishing to nominate the greyhound.  It is not GRSA’s responsibility to ensure that the paperwork is processed within ½ hour, which is the amount of time available to have it processed before nominations close at 9am.

TRIAL DATES FOR STRATHALBYN

All bookings for normal trials will be taken by the Club. As they do on Wednesday nights they will now also take the bookings for Friday nights. You can book trials via text MSG / or call Yvonne King at the Club on 0407 334 349 between 9am and 11am on the day of the trials.  All qualifying trials will need to be booked through GRSA as per normal by 12.30pm on the day of the Qualy trials. GRSA thanks the support of Yvonne and the Strathalbyn GRC in regard to these changes.
The following dates are for the next trial sessions at Strathalbyn -
