TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

With only the 10 races tonight we have to back a couple of winners early, if you are in to numerology I have tipped 5 box ones and 3 box two runners to salute, the kennels to follow are Lauren Harris and Cameron Butcher. Remember the huge Guaranteed Pool of $10,000 for the Trifecta in race 1 tonight, so it’s worth a crack.

Race 1 - It’s a good event to kick off with and it’s a wide-open affair, I will stick with Sheeza Nitro who has been racing well. Rockstar Lisa has a good turn of early pace and will be right in the mix. Box Up 1.3.5.6.

Race 2 - This is the 731m event of the night and should be the first of several winners for the Butcher kennel, Purpose Driven charged home to win here last week in the Stayers Cup final and should prove far too smart again. Caprice Monelli will be doing his best work late and is a must for the trifecta punters. Box Up 1.4.6.7.

Race 3 - Ben Rawlings rarely goes home from the track without a winner and he has Kung Fu Mary high flying and she appears the one to beat again from a tricky draw of 6. Canya Sassy is the likely improver and is boxed for a bold showing. Box Up 1.2.6.8.

Race 4 - He is certainly the local champ with 10 wins on the trot and that is ON FIRE, he just wins again for the Butcher team and is boxed to perfection down in one. The placings look to the pacey Marlow Brown and Marley Bale. 1 from 3.4.7.

Race 5 - There looks to be 2 main chances in this with Boy George and Keno Bale both have been around the mark in recent starts but I will go with the Vadim Roz runner in Boy George who has the pace too lead from his rails draw. Add Keno Bale and Edison Bale for the trifecta. Box Up 1.3.4.6.

Race 6 - Molly Be Nimble can be hit and miss on box rise but is well drawn to carve across them into the back and take holding out. Jacqui Blax has a perfect record here with 5 from 5 and has moderate beginners drawn around her and there is no reason she can’t make it 6. Box Up 1.2.7.8.

Race 7 - The Rasmussen kennel can nearly trifecta this event with their 3 runners and I will put Rock Away on top for her to finally break through from box 2, she has her paw on the till and will go very close. Stick figure and the EX Tassie performer Greysynd Gem for the minors. Box Up 2.4.5.8.

Race 8 - Lauren Harris can fly home with a couple of winners late and Brick Lane is racing well with 4 wins from his last 5 starts and should lead and win again in this. Harbinson Miss will find this a lot easier than recent starts and is a big each way chance and good odds. Box Up 2.3.4.7.

Race 9 - The 600m affair of the night and it is very hard to go past Whispering Soul who was a runner up at The Meadows last start over the same trip, she is a pacey type who is also very strong. Keroma Storm doesn’t win enough but loves to fill a place as does Explosive Ally. Box Up 1.2.4.6.

Race 10 - Trevor Jessup is sure to have Brilliant Shot well primed to win first up, the former NSW performer has handy Wentworth Park form and is boxed for a bold showing at his South Australian debut. Regal Looper loves filling a place and is having his 133rd career start tonight. Box Up 1.6.7.8.

Race 9, No: 2 - Whispering Soul

MYOZCHASE INTRODUCTION

In June GRSA went Live with MyOzChase which provides an easy way for participants in the Greyhound Racing Industry to perform transactions online that previously had to be completed manually and via paper-based Forms.

The portal available on the GRSA website will also improve communications between participants and Greyhound Racing Controlling Bodies.
MyOzChase will initially be offering the following functionality to users who register, obtain a log-in and complete a once-off identity verification prior to transacting online with their Controlling Body:
·         Online updates of personal details
·         View all their associated greyhounds (as an Owner, Trainer, Custodian, etc.)
·         Submit Notifications of Retirement for greyhounds
·         Submit Trainership and/or Kennel changes for greyhounds (replacing the current Kennel Notification or Notice of Training / Removal Form) *Please note should you wish to transfer a previous Victorian trained greyhound into your kennel you will need to do this via the Online Nomination portal.
·         Link through to the Online Nominations website (for Trainers only)
Further enhancements will be made over time.

TIME GRADING UPDATE

GRSA has been working at achieving some of the outcomes from the recent Grading Review Panel meeting held on 28th April 2017. Some items like cascading reserves need to be implemented by Ozchase however some do not.
We will be able to include greyhounds with 0 – 2 starts so every greyhound nominated will be eligible for consideration.

The table below details the rating for 0-2 start greyhounds -

“A greyhound with 0 starts will be given a rating of 10 as a starting point. At its second start it will have the average of 10 and its first start. At its third start, it will be the average of the 2 lowest ratings, including the base rating of 10. ie if had 12, 12 from 2 starts, it will be 10 + 12 / 2 = 11”
For “Best to Worst” Time Grading we will be able to include higher graded greyhounds into mixed events if there are insufficient nominations for a single race. The conditions of this are listed -
“A Grade 4 can be mixed with a Grade 5 however a Grade 3 will not unless there is also a Grade 4 greyhound selected for that time graded race”
GRSA has also started to program some category Time Grading meetings. These meetings are for greyhounds that are Maidens, 1 – 4 wins and 5 plus wins all time graded “lowest to highest”. Please refer to the All Tracks calendars for details.
