TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

Another month rolls around and we are heading towards the 4-day break next week so the 2 heats of the Easter Cup over the 600m tonight are definitely the highlight on the 11 event program. The kennels to follow tonight look to be the Petar Jovanovic team who have several strong chances as does the Cameron Butcher kennel and as usual, the Rasmussen kennel has a strong contingent competing.

Race 1 and the Barry Jones youngster in Slipper’s Time is well drawn down on the fence, she was a last start winner here leading throughout in 30.04 and with her early pace will be very hard to beat. Megastar Bound is a lot better than recent form suggests and is worth putting in the trifecta. Add in Springvale Cooke who will be working home late. Box Up 1.2.4.5.

Race 2 - This event has lots of early speed and the pace will come from the 2 and 8 and it will be a matter who can pinch the early lead so they are a must for the pick 4.  Seattle Suzy will be working home late and loves to run a place. Box Up 2.3.4.8.

Race 3 - The Butcher kennel has a two prong attack in Molly Be Nimble and On Fire, they both look very hard to beat and should run the Quinella. Ruff State is drawn well down on the rails and is worth putting in the pick 4. Box Up 1.2.7.8

Race 4 - Cairnlea Ollie is the 1st of the Jovanovics kennel runners and he is boxed for a bold showing and should start the punters elect. Columbian Flame found a heap of trouble here last start and will be big odds and add some value to our pick 4. Box Up 1.3.5.7.

Race 5 - This is the 1st of the Easter Cup heats over the 600m and I like one here at each way odds in Dyna Edgar. He was a last start winner here over the sprint flying home late and looks primed for the extra distance, Danyo’s Tom loves this trip and should get a clear run to the 1st turn. Box Up 3.4.6.7.

Race 6 -The 2nd of the heats and it’s very hard to go past Long Gully Gilly from box 1. He has won 5 of 6 over this distance and looks primed for this. Purpose Driven has been placed here at her only two runs over the 600m and should figure in the money once again, add Von Dousa who has been ultra-consistent of late. Box Up 1.2.5.7.

Race 7 - Winning form is good form and you can’t get any better than Cairnlea Kenny who has won his past 4 starts here all in good fashion, he is drawn to win again down in box 1. Rock Away can be hit and miss on box rise but loves to run a place so she is a must for the pick 4. Add in Huayra for value as he is very smart when on song. Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 8 -Tough race as there are no standouts, Rockstar Lisa has the draw and on recent efforts should be able to kick up on the rails and give a big sight. Kennel mate Striker Klinsman could be the surprise packet at each way odds, he won here on debut in good fashion and can only improve and we can’t leave out Regal Looper who will be rattling home.  Box Up 1.4.6.7.

Race 9 -The inside brigade are all moderate beginners but should hold their own in an open affair. I lean towards Vagas De Khan for Lauren Harris, he struggled from this draw last start but we will give him another chance. Loceryl is another who can be hit and miss but with a clear run is more than capable. Box Up 1.2.7.8.

Race 10 - Get on the Zipping runners in this, Nelson and Oscar both will be running on late but need a lot of luck early in their race to be close enough to score. Tear It Down has been improving with every run and has his paw on the till. Box Up 1.2.3.5

Race 11 - Jay’s Ace has been missing the kick of late but when on song is very smart, he won here in 30.08 four runs back from a wide draw but he needs to improve his box manners. Farmin was in outstanding form early last month but has struggled from middle draws in recent starts. Box Up 1.3.5.8.

SA GREYHOUND FLAVOUR INTERSTATE

Tonight the Rasmussen’s are back at Sandown with Gangster Miss drawn box 2 for Tony engaged in a consolation heat of the Launching Pad which is race 3 due to start at 7.16pm (SA time) and Lisa has Tommy’s Tune engaged in race 12 no 1 which is a Grade 5 event due to start at 10.22pm.

It will be a big night on Saturday night with SA Owned and Bred Fabregal drawing box 1 in the fast class event at the Meadows. Fresh from her super second in the Group 2 Traralgon Cup she should go close with this race due to start at 9.15pm SA time.

Also on Saturday night star stayer Bogie Bekim for Ben Rawlings will be looking to add another Group 1 victory to the trophy cabinet at Wentworth Park when he starts in a heat of the Group 1 Association Cup. He has drawn nicely in box 7 however they are very strong heats due to start at 7.12pm which is race 3.

FABULOUS FINALS AT STRATHALBYN TOMORROW

What a super program Strathalbyn has tomorrow with a bumper 11 event card of racing due to start at 11.19am which includes 3 fabulous finals.

The Metro Roller Doors Cannonball Final over the 319m features heats winners Aston Hinkley and Cove Alight along with Wota Chill and Wave To Kirra just to name a few. This will be race 5 at 12.35pm with race 6 and 12.55pm another feature race over the 416m which is the 1062 Kennels Autumn Sprint FFA Final. Heat winners Nit Noi and Reventon look hard to beat but will be challenged by Just Like Fire, Kansa Bale and Penny Maker. Another of the clubs features will be the Next Lending Autumn Cup FFA final which is race 8 on the card due to jump at 1.29pm. This race is over the 536m and could be considered one of the best races seen at the track since last November’s Strathalbyn Cup Final. Each greyhound looks to have a strong chance with heat winners Pure Presence and Harry Aztec looking very hard to beat on last weeks efforts.
