TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

I can’t believe we are in the month of May already, before we know it, it will be tax time so we better get a move on and win a few dollars. Tonight we have a huge 12 event programme and there look to be a couple of good things throughout the night, the kennels to follow are the Cameron Butcher team (as usual) and Troy Murray. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First 4 events and that is where we might pick up a handy dividend.

Race 1 - We kick off with a handy event and let’s hope Ruff State comes out running as usual and can hang on tonight, he is so close to a win it’s not funny. Rockstar Lisa is well drawn down on the fence as is the speedy Sol Invictus at big odds out wide. Box Up 1.4.5.8.

Race 2 - this is a wide open affair and the Judi Hurley team might be able to win a couple tonight starting with Emerley Cosmic. He can be hit and miss on box rise but is drawn to run a cheeky race, add Ripper Fan Sam who has been in the money at his last 4 starts and Transfixed at big odds for the trifecta. Box Up 2.3.4.5.

Race 3 - Alpha Castor is my selection in this, he led them a merry dance here last start only to fade in the run home to run 2nd ,he should come out running again and pinch this. Victa Sara will add value to our pick 4 from the rails as will Crazy Barret who has terrific short course form. Box Up 1.2.6.7.

Race 4 - This is a terrific event as there looks to be at least 5 main chances, I will stick with Jays Ace in the Butcher kennel he should be hunting up along the fence early and is normally very strong. Windmill Haze is very smart when on song and has had a month off so he will be right in the finish. Regal Looper is anyone’s guess as he  pops up when we leave him out of the pick 4 so we will put him in tonight. Box Up 2.4.5.6.

Race 5 - This is the 600m of the night and She’s A Looper will find this a lot easier than her past couple and looks very hard to beat. Dyna Keitaro will be rattling home over the top of them but needs to begin better, add the ex-Victorian in Aston Amon who won on debut here last week over the sprint. Box Up 1.4.5.6.

Race 6 - Raven Sky is in terrific form and loves the rails, he should be right on the pace early and prove too strong in this. Speed Axle returned to the winners circle last start and will be running on again. Burst Of Hope has been knocking on the door in recent runs but her draw is the worry. Box Up 1.3.5.6.

Race 7 - we tipped her last week and she saluted at each way odds and that was Mepunga Georgia over the 600m, she is back to the sprint tonight and she can win again for Robyn Mackellar. Rosie Allen has been racing well at Gawler and is boxed for a bold showing. Box Up 1.6.7.8.

Race 8 - On Fire proved too strong here last week to win the Anniversary Cup in quick time and on that effort will be very hard to beat again from his draw of 2. Striker Klinsman found a heap of trouble in the final but wasn’t disgraced when he flashed late for 4th, he only needs to be handy early as he has a fantastic strike rate at this venue. Marlow Brown looks the likely leader but would need to be a long way in front to pinch this. Box Up 2.3.4.6.

Race 9 - The Rasmussen kennel rarely goes home without a winner and they look to have one with Canya Sassy out in box 8, she has won her last 3 here and appears the measuring stick once again. Another Mai can pinch a place at big odds down on the fence and Springvale Cookie is a must for the pick 4. Box Up 1.2.6.8.

Race 10 - This looks a toughie as there are a heap of chances and no standouts so I will go with a newcomer in the Murray kennel from Victoria in Who Dey, he has won 10 from 57 along with 13 placings and his recent racing has been over the 700m, he hasn’t raced since early January and is sure to be well tried on his South Australian debut. Danyo’s Tom has been missing the start of late but is more than capable with a clear run. Box Up 3.4.7.8.

Race 11 - This could be a race to race double for the Murray kennel if Heading My Way continues on her winning way, she has been in outstanding form of late with 4 wins on the trot all in good times. The main dangers look to be Alice’s Entity and Mauricio who are both in fine form. Box Up 3.4.5.6.

Race 12 - I think we can go home on a winner with Hurucan out in box 6, he should hopefully lead then it should be all over red rover. Benaud was a last start winner at Strathalbyn over the short so we must put him in our pick 4. Box Up 1.2.6.8.
