Angle Park Racing Preview - 28.7.16
by The Shadow
The grader has done a terrific job tonight as the fields are very even but we will need to go a little wider than normal to snare the Quaddie. We have a terrific 731m event again which is race 4 and the GAP’s 19th Birthday race is race 5 looks to be a terrific event.
Race 1 and we kick off with a terrific betting race that has several chances. It is hard to go past Tuggeragh as he has a good turn of early pace and should cross and lead. Flying Mal and Check Yo Self are very strong and will be right in the mix. Box Up 1.3.5.6
Race 2 and we will go with the inform runner in Hairy Hairdresser in box 4. She hasn’t missed a cheque in her 5 starts at this venue and despite the draw appears hard to beat. Scorching has been struggling of late but is better than form suggests. Box Up 3.4.6.7
Race 3 and Rockstar Lisa looks one of the better bets of the night. She has been winning by big margins of late and has a good turn of early pace on different tracks. Harvey Specter can run a cheeky race from box 1 as will Harbison Miss. Box Up 1.3.6.7.
Race 4 is the distance affair of the night and it shouldn’t be any different than last week, when the kennel mates in Luna jinx and Springvale Bryne fought out the finish. Master Bekim can fill a place from the rails draw. Box Up 1.3.6.8
Race 5, Its Classified returned to the track with a 3 Length win here in 30.23. The Murray trained sprinter will only improve and looks very hard to beat again. Temalor and Brett’s Magic for the minors. Box Up 1.2.3.7
Race 6, this is the 600m event of the night and a very open one at that. The main chances will come from Sea Winds and Mija Returns, both will be on the pace early and are strong. Cris Tyson can be hit and miss but is worth putting in the First 4. Box Up 2.5.6.8
Race 7, Ben Rawlings very rarely goes home without a winner and Caustic Bale has found form after a short let up with two strong wins here in recent weeks. He gets the nod again for mine. Fusaichi Kahn can lead and with a bit of luck is a chance of pinching this, so he is a must for our trifecta. Box Up 2.4.5.7
Race 8, if you saw his run here last week when Worm Burner was nearly last early then sprouted wings into the back, and went to the front on the home turn to win by over 3L in the BON 29.86. Marlow Brown has been runner up at his past couple but is very smart when able to lead. Add in Dyna Keitaro who will be making late ground. Box Up 3.5.6.8
Race 9, let’s hope we are well in front as this is a toughie. Sketchy Max has been racing well of late over the short and the kennel has been in fine form itself. So we will put him amongst the main chances. Play Your Ace is better suited closer to the rails, but he has pace and is a chance of crossing them. Arya and Chappie Bale can run into the First 4. Box Up 2.3.5.6
Race 10 and Lisa Rasmussen has a handy one in Straight Away, she has a good turn of early pace and was a winner from this draw five starts back in 30.08. So we will make her our top pick. Just In Hodges has the perfect draw of 1 and is a good money spinner for his connections. Box Up 1.5.6.8
Race 11 and we will go with the newcomer in Alejandro the Ex Victorian. She has won 2 from 13 with two placings over the short. She was placed earlier in the month at Geelong from box 8 and is sure to be well tried on debut. Rocky Seven loves a wide draw and is another who has early pace so we will make them our main two chances. Box Up 1.2.7.8

19TH BIRTHDAY FOR GAP TONIGHT
The South Australian Greyhound Adoption Program celebrates its 19th Birthday tonight at Angle Park. Staff and volunteers do a wonderful job rehoming greyhounds to loving families and are rated one of the best adoption programs in Australia.
Highlighted tonight with the birthday celebrations will be raffles and door prizes along with two GAP parades. The GAP parades are always a highlight for the families and their greyhounds along with oncourse patrons especially the kids who love to get up close and personal with these pets.
The parades will be after races 2 (7.04pm) and race 4 (7.46pm) tonight with Ray Fewings as normal giving a run down on the greyhounds past and future.
CHAMPION PUPPY HEATS TONIGHT
There are two terrific heats of the Champion Puppy series tonight with some of the best up and coming greyhounds in the state doing battle. The likes of Optic Blast, Hairy Hairdresser and Scorching in heat 1 and Rockstar Lisa, Lightning Lola and Harbison Miss in heat 2 suggest it will be an exciting series.
The Champion Puppy is for greyhounds whelped on or after 1st July 2014 where the first 4 from each heat will progress to next weeks $8,565 final.

PATHWAY RACING UPDATE
In January 2016, Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) introduced the Pathway Racing concept, which aims to provide regular and ongoing racing opportunities for lower class and out of form greyhounds. The trial period of the Pathway Racing concept will be reviewed after the 31st July, 2016.
The Grader will draw all eligible greyhounds into Pathway races, unless ‘NO PATHWAY’ is stipulated on the nominations. As such, participants should be diligent when nominating for meetings where Pathway races have been advertised.
PARTICIPANT FEEDBACK
Participants wishing to provide feedback on Pathway Racing are urged to forward comments to GRSA via email, post or through the GRSA closed Facebook page. It is very important that GRSA receives participant feedback in regard to these races.
