Angle Park Racing Preview - 27.4.17
by The Shadow
It looks to be a massive night of racing where we have two major races in the SA Distance Championship and the SA Anniversary Cup over the sprint, they are race 6 and 8 on the programme. There looks to be several chances in both events so they will certainly make very good betting races, they both are worth a more than handy $10,000 to the winner.
Race 1 and we can kick off with an early winner in Ruff State out in box 6, he has a good turn of early pace and should be able to cross from the wide draw. Add in Allen Portland who will be flying home late. Box Up 1.3.6.7.
Race 2 - I tipped him last start and he found a heap of trouble and that is Hurucan, he was drawn of the track but is back on the fence where he likes it we won’t back down and go with him again. Motown Kenny is a moderate beginner but he should be working home late at handy odds. Box Up 1.2.4.6.
Race 3 - We have a newcomer from over the border in the Troy Murray kennel in Aston Amon, he has won 6 of 19 along with 2 placings and is sure to be well tried on his SA debut. Long Gully Jonny will start the punters elect on recent form and has the pace to carve across so he is a must for trifecta punters. Box Up 1.3.6.7.
Race 4 - There appears to be a heap of chances in this but we will go with Inequity down in box 3, he is very smart when out in front and he can lead and win this for mine. The dangers look to be Roc The Belvue and Rock Away both have been racing well and are right in the mix. Box Up 1.3.7.8.
Race 5 - this is a handy 600m event but I’m tipping a race to race double for the Robyn MacKellar kennel with Mepunga Georgia out in the 7, she is in terrific form of late and the rise in distance shouldn’t be a worry, she should be able to ping and lead all the way. Columbian Flame has been placed 3 of 5 runs over this trip so it makes her a must for the trifecta and we can’t leave out Alice’s Entity who is in the powerful Rasmussen kennel Box. Up 5.6.7.8.
Race 6 - The SA Distance final and all money leads to the inform Bogie Bekim, he led them a merry dance to win here in a slick 43.11 from this draw in the heat last week and for may go quicker tonight after a week of rest in his own kennel. Victorian visitor Micks Angel loves the Angle Park loam and was rattling home here last week when an eye catching 2nd , add in Springvale Bryne who returned to the winners circle after a run of outs and we have a terrific final and as mentioned earlier a handy $10,000 to the winner. Box Up 1.3.5.8.
Race 7 - Molly Be Nimble can bounce back and win here from a good draw, she should lead and win and looks one of the better bets on the programme. Marlow Brown has a good turn of early pace and is working back to his best form. Box up 1.2.5.7.
Race 8 the 2017 Anniversary Cup final and it looks a race in two with On Fire and the inform Striker Klinsman who is yet to taste defeat here in 4 SA starts but we all know what finals bring to the table. All 8 runners are a chance, both main chances have different racing styles as the pink runner will be right on the pace and On Fire will be working through the field and storming home over the top. We can’t leave out Signal Peak and Dyna Keitaro who are in fine form, it’s an interesting race as the Rasmussen kennel has 4 runners the Butcher team has 3. Box Up 2.3.4.8
Race 9 - Tough event for mine but we will go with Disaaci who can return to the winners circle in a very open race, he can be hit and miss on box rise but with a clear run will give this a big shake. Harry Aztec is smart when on song but is ordinary when he misses the start, he is one who must be taken on trust as he can burn the old wallet. Box Up 1.3.4.8.
Race 10 and I have tipped the 8 runner to win the last 3 events so it’s a must. Alpha Castor is a improver after his 8th here from this draw last week. Blackhaven could be the Smokey if he comes out running. Box Up all the evens 2.4.6.8.

EXPANSION OF ALTERNATE LURE TRIALS ON SATURDAY MORNINGS CONTUNE THIS WEEK
For several weeks GRSA has been conducting a limited trial of the blue, yellow and white lure which is currently in use in Victoria, WA and NSW.
Whilst the initial trial has been well received by those trainers participating, the lack of widespread participation has limited the volume of feedback required for GRSA to decide upon the future of the lure. As a result, GRSA will conduct full trial sessions using only the new lure. These occurred at Angle Park last Saturday morning and will also be this Saturday morning (29th April, 2017).
GRSA recognises that trainers may be reluctant to participate in the trial, therefore the decision was made to make these completely free sessions.
Details of Alternative Lure Trials
Where: Angle Park
When: Saturday 29th April, 2017
Time: Normal Saturday morning session from 7.00am
Cost: Free
Following these full trial sessions using the alternative lure, GRSA will then invite feedback from trainers which will then be discussed by the Industry Consultative Group (ICG) at their next meeting on Friday 5th May, 2017.
The intention of these trials is to explore why the blue, yellow and white lure would be unsuitable for introduction in SA.
BOOKING ON LINE FOR SATURDAY MORNING TRIALS AT ANGLE PARK
GRSA introduced the Online Booking process for Saturday morning trials recently.
Bookings will be taken as per normal by phone and online at 12.30pm on the Thursday before. Like Tuesday night these will be timeslots giving participants guaranteed bookings and allowing a smoother process. Trials on Saturday mornings start at 7.00am as normal with 25 minute blocks likely to go to around 10.30am. GRSA will monitor the bookings and attendance and may vary conditions and timeslots as required.
