THE WRAPPER PREVIEW FOR TONIGHTS ANGLE PARK PROGRAM

The Shadow is unfortunately under the weather this week so the guys from the Dogs website have kindly provided their “Wrapper” preview of tonights Angle Park meeting.

Race 1 - RHYNSTONE JETTA (3) has the ability to do it at both ends in his races. Should be near the lead early and applying pressure for the whole trip. Top pick. CHECK YO SELF (1) going well enough and gets the gun draw. Can hold the rail and lead early, looks the one they have to catch. PENNY MAKER (5) goes quickly early, could pinch this on the lure.

Race 2 - ROCKSTAR LISA (8) can cross from out here this week I feel, and that'll be the key to this. She crosses she wins I feel. KENZI (4) was every possible last week and might get every possible this week against these. Looks the danger. JACK IN BLACK (7) pacey type, should be in the firing line early on. RUE DE ROSE (1) not hopeless off the red.

Race 3 - SHE'S A LOOPER (6) returned to form on Monday over this journey and looks every chance to make it back to back wins here. Will be on them mid race and hard to hold out. BACKPACKER (4) will get the space he craves here, 600m suits and he looks the biggest danger here. ZANA BALE (8) can improve in this field tonight, far from out of it.

Race 4 - LAPLAND (8) up from the 400, will go quickly early and try pinch this before they see where he went. Last bit might be tricky, but will give a sight. FLASH OF HOPE (3) gets an easier race than Monday, real chance with a better start tonight. ELECTRO BALE (6) chance if he comes out running tonight, must lead.

Race 5 - PARSEC BALE (8) on top. Will settle closer to the speed over this journey and has a fast 43.27 PB here. Should be hard to beat with a clear run early. GO YOU GIRL (1) will drop out the back and rattle late. As ever needs luck, but is in winning form. MIJA RETURNS (2) will be up on the pace tonight, making her own luck and takes some catching

Race 6 - TEXAS TITAN (8) uses the track so gets the right draw for his first go over the journey. Will pick these up in the middle stages and should see it out. BRADLEY BALE (4) won't get many better chances to break through, last run was an improvement and is a live chance in this sort of field. CRIS TYSON (3) gets a suitable draw now, appears next best.

Race 7 - GUN MCBAIN (5) aims for win 37 at the venue. Good speed, will be on the pace and is strong to the line. Goes on top. CRISIS BALE (2) as ever will be out on the lure early and bob along for backers. Always hard to beat. OAKVALE FLYER (3) will get the soft run early and charge late. Big threat with luck early doors.

Race 8 - RUFF STATE (7) is the top pick, should be able to cross these early and make his own luck out in front and will take running down. SPRINGVALE BRYNE (8) is tasked with that job. Missed by 1/2L last start in a small field, 8 dogs here so task just a bit tougher but with even luck will rattle home. TEAM ROPER (3) wants up the track, will need luck.

Race 9 - ALDERLEY REFORM (3) top pick. Should lead, last start was a good enough run to win this if repeating. Take some catching this class. EXCUSEZ MOI (4) should get a nice run following the speed early and will be in the finish with even luck. RUPERT (2) is up to the task here with a good start, should get towards the top.

Race 10 - Of the main field, MR. ARJAY (1) off the red looks top pick. Should lead, ran 29.90 on Monday and that's good enough here. Will take some stitching. DYNA JUMPY (7) gets drawn outside now which should suit, can see improvement on the clock here. Keep BELLA TRIX (10) and DREAM DAZZLER (9) very safe if they run, both good chances.

Race 11 - HUAYRA (3) should round the night out for punters, may be a short quote but should be winning. Has lengths on these, jumps as per usual and will be hard to beat. OPTIC BLAST (1) can use the rails draw to grab some minor money, should be handy early on. MISSY MCBAIN (4) can get a trail early and hold on for 2nd or 3rd here.

Please check your licence card to confirm the expiry date.

With the date being the 30th June it is vital that you license before the cut of time to ensure no greyhounds will miss a run. As an example it you are nominating for the race meeting on Friday 1st July you would want to have renewed by Friday 24th June.

Check with Owners locally and from Interstate as this has been an issue in recent years and get the licences renewed well and truly before June 30.

PATHWAY RACING UPDATE

In January 2016, Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) introduced the Pathway Racing concept, which aims to provide regular and ongoing racing opportunities for lower class and out of form greyhounds. Whilst the initial stages of the trial appeared very successful, the transition to a flattened stakemoney structure has not been as well received by participants as anticipated. In response to this decline in support, GRSA will implement a new stakemoney structure (refer table below), slightly alter the way races are selected and extend the trial period of the Pathway Racing concept to 31st July, 2016 when a full review will take place.

Another important change that participants should be aware of, is that the Grader will now draw all eligible greyhounds into Pathway races, unless ‘NO PATHWAY’ is stipulated on the nominations. As such, participants should be diligent when nominating for meetings where Pathway races have been advertised.

These changes will be effective from the Angle Park meeting on Wednesday 8th June. Nominations close on Friday 3rd June.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES – effective Friday 3rd June 2016

  • Increased stakemoney allocation for first place
  • Greyhounds will be included in Pathway Races if eligible (unless ‘NO PATHWAY’ on nomination)
  • Selection of races – greater emphasis on one trainer per race and worst to best form with SA Bred preferences included
  • Trial period extended to 31st July 2016

STAKEMONEY SCHEDULE (As of 1/6/16)

ELIGIBILITY TO COMPLETE

·         Pathway Racing events will only be for Maiden, Grade 6 and Grade 5 greyhounds at the track

·         Greyhounds must not have run faster than the below time standards at their past four starts:

·         Pathway Racing aims to ensure maximum participation, therefore the Grader will endeavour to include all trainers entering at least one greyhound, prior to including multiple greyhounds from the same trainer

·         Fields will be selected worst form to best form in the opinion of the Grader. The Order of Preference is not be used for Pathway Racing

·         Grade 6 and Grade 5 Pathway races will carry no penalty however where Grade 6 greyhounds compete in Grade 5 events and are successful they will become a Grade 5 at the track and ineligible for Grade 6 events at the track. (Normal rules apply for Maiden events)

·         Races will be graded on race wins where possible

·         Guarding will occur where possible

·         Pathway Racing to be run at Angle Park Wednesday meetings and Gawler Sunday meetings along with Mt Gambier.

NOMINATING FOR PATHWAY RACES
