TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

It looks like another terrific night of racing and we will need to be in front early as the night looks very even over the 11 events. We have a handy 731m event in race 4 with 6 starters which is sure to be a good betting race. Don’t forget all races are Trifectas and First 4 and that where we should be able to increase the bank balance. The kennels to follow tonight should be the Rasmussen’s and Johnstone’s, if you follow their runners you won’t go far wrong.

Race 1, we will kick off with Wheel Spinner down in box 2.  He has his paw on the till with recent placings and from his draw should prove hard to beat.  Are Ate is smart when on song and was a last start winner here in a quick 29.80.  Add in Rockstar Lisa for the trifecta.  Box Up 2.3.4.8.

Race 2, this is a very even affair with at least 4 runners having a chance to win.  I will go with the Tony Rasmussen trained Hy Guard who has been a runner up here at his past couple.  He is tardy early but strong. Dyna Leona is boxed for a bold showing down on the fence and will run a cheeky race.  Box Up 1.3.6.7.

Race 3, I won’t stop tipping him until he wins and that is Fusaichi Kahn.  He has finished 2nd here at his previous runs and should lead and win this.  I am that confident I will make him one of my best bets of the night!!!   Wild Soul is resuming and normally sprints well fresh so he is a must for the top 3.  Box Up 2.3.4.7.

Race 4, this is the distance affair of the night and Ray Murray has a handy one in Nureyev.  He ran an eye catching 2nd behind Springvale Bryne last start and made late ground.  He will be very hard to beat.  Go You Girl keeps on running places here and the small field is a bonus.  Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 5, tricky race and if we can snare this we can build a handy bank.  I will go with the early pace in Blu Light Banjo.  She has terrific short course form and will lead this for a long way.  Dana Jorja will be rattling home late despite the poor draw.  Aston Force can be hit and miss on box rise and will need luck in the run to the 1st turn but will be flying home over the top at each way odds.  Box Up 1.3.5.8.

Race 6, Junner Bale will find this a lot easier than recent runs and looks the big improver for mine.  Tywin Bale could be the Smokey from his draw of 2 with a clear run early.  Add in Just In Hodges and the pacey Splish Splashin’.  Box Up 2.3.4.8.

Race 7, this is a good race and the ultra-consistent Gun McBain, he is always a chance in these types of races.  He is having his 125th start tonight and loves this circuit.  Aston Kody was a last start winner here coming from last to score in 30.07 and the wide draw is a bonus.  Box up 1.5.7.8.

Race 8, this event is full of speedy types and it will be a charge to the 1st turn.  The main chances have all drawn wide so a lot of luck will be needed. Crisis Bale is very smart when on song and will figure as will Dyna Norfolk from the same kennel.  Allinga Val will come out running and if leads would take tossing.  Box Up 5.6.7.8.

Race 9, Precious Parker didn’t give a yelp here last start when well supported and finished down the track when unplaced.  She has moderate beginner’s around her tonight and is a chance of leading.  Calendar Girl has been amongst them lately and is a chance from the rails draw.  Box Up 1.2.4.7.

Race 10, let’s hope we are in front as the last two races are toughies.  Nordoc Magic if on song would win but she mixes her form and box manners but we will still tip her on top.  Mr. Arjay can improve so we will put him in the trifecta.  Nissan Bale won from this draw three runs back in a similar field so he is a must for the First 4.  Box Up 1.4.6.7.

Race 11, Show Me Dollars will be hard to beat in the final event and let’s hope she does for all that have followed.  She has the pace to lead from the inside and her recent short course form is first class.  Short Mess is strong and can run a cheeky race at odds.  Add in Rockstar Billy who looks an improver.  Box Up 1.2.3.4.

2016 GREYHOUND AUCTION ON THIS SUNDAY AT ANGLE PARK

The catalogue has been released and it’s now just waiting in anticipation for our greyhound Auction to begin on Sunday 23RD October with around 60 lots to be sold.

Vendors will be arriving between 8.30am and 9.30am to be checked in. Viewing will begin at 10.30am with the Auction due to start at 12.00pm.

The AGRC have organised a barbeque (Vietnam Veterans) from around 10.30am for vendors and purchasers for breakfast they will also be providing lunch throughout the day. There will be Rearers and Trainers information for those people requiring a little extra assistance with their purchase and we thank the AGRC committee for being available to assist.

Ray Fewings will be the Auctioneer on the day.

There is a requirement for anyone wishing to bid on a greyhound, including buybacks, that they are registered before the Auction begins on Sunday 23rd October.

Ray Borda from Macro Meats has provided 19 x $250 vouchers to entice bidders to the auction and to be used on the purchase price (buy backs are excluded from this promotion). Unfortunately Golden Bone contestants and some Social Clubs who won these vouchers were unable to take up the offer so we will draw 19 vouchers on track tonight for those who have regsitered.

Auction on the Day and Race conditions–

11% commission

Minimum price of $500 (No Reserve)

The main race series Heats and Final are scheduled for June 2018 when the youngest pups will be 24 months old. One month before (May) there will be a Wednesday 388m series with Heats and Final for pups sold at the auction. There will also be a Wednesday heats 515m and Final Thursday night 515m held in July the month after the main race series. This gives the buyer more opportunity to recover some of their expenditure and the breeder greater opportunity to receive breeder bonuses.

The Main race series stakes ($16,000,$5,000, $2,500, unpl $500). Auction Nominator bonuses for main race ($3,500, $2,500, $1,500).

Greyhounds purchased through the auction that are not SA Bred will be allowed the same grading exemptions in regards to Grade 6 and Juvenile races as locally bred greyhounds. The extra conditions for Interstate greyhounds only refer to a grading advantage and have no bearing on the SA Bred pool of money.

SA OWNED GRADE 5 FEATURE FINAL TONIGHT

After heats last week the $4,665 SA Owned Grade 5 final looks a terrific race tonight. It will be race 7 on the program due to start at 8.52pm and features the likes of Yeardley, Gun McBain, Flying Mal and Aston Kody.

AGRC MEMBERS LUCKY DOG DRAW

Reminder on how it works, each year we have drawn 4 names for each week’s Thursday APK race 8, next to each name is the box number of the dog you have drawn in Race 8.  If your box number happens to win Race 8, you can renew your membership next year (30th June) for half price.    We have drawn 8 names for the Xmas function night so we will have at least one happy member on that night.

If you happen to own or train greyhounds racing on the date that your name has been drawn, you can choose to have your dogs drawn instead of the lucky box number and it works the same if your dog drawn happens to win.  It is up to you to notify an AGRC committee member on the night that you want to take up this option and we will randomly draw one of your dogs competing on the night.

AGRC Committee members are Alan Amezdroz, Barry Stewart, Petar Jovanovic, Melissa Trowbridge, Gabe Vistolli and Gavin Harris.

EXTRA RACE MEETINGS FOR ANGLE PARK

After GRSA had already moved some meetings to accommodate the Gawler Lure and Rail system upgrade resulting in Gawler not racing for 3 weeks in early November we have now added three extra meetings at Angle Park in support of participation.

Taking into account the Sky Racing schedule, staffing issues, track maintenance and budget requirements the added racing dates are listed below -

Add – Angle Park Day Friday 28th October (Mount Gambier GRC also race on this day)

Add – Angle Park Day Friday 4th November (Mount Gambier GRC also race on this day)

Add – Angle Park Day Wednesday 9th November (Mount Gambier GRC also race on this day)

These extra meetings at Angle Park will provide added racing opportunities to participants on a consistent basis where they don’t have the opportunity to trial or race at Gawler during this period.

GRSA thanks the support of Sky Racing to approve these racing dates during this period.
