TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We have a mixed bag of racing tonight with three 600m events, a 731m and a couple of smart sprints. Race 9 will see the juggernaut continue with On Fire going for his 13th straight win with the small field an added bonus as he will be looking to charge home over the top of them once again. Don’t forget all races are trifecta and First Four events with Race 1 having a guaranteed Trifecta Pool of $10,000. The kennel to follow is the Cameron Butcher team once again.

Race 1 - It’s a wide open affair to kick start the night with, but I will go with Cairnlea Ollie who finally gets a good draw. Buzz Box is racing well and is always a chance with early luck. Box up 1.2.5.7.

Race 2 - This is the 1st of the 600’s and a very strong one at that. Eduardo is very smart when on the lure and was a last start winner here in quick time from this draw, so we will stick with the Kirin Corby performer. Cairnlea Kenny will appreciate the extra trip and can’t be left out of calculations. Box up 1.4.6.8.

Race 3 - Nicole Price has a handy one in Lord Asher, he has terrific short course form at Gawler and is boxed for a bold showing 1st up over the 515m. Kung Fu Mary has been in the money at her last 5 runs and is a must for the First Four punters. Box up 1.4.5.7.

Race 4 - This is the 731m event of the night and the main two chances are the inside two in Caprice Monelli and Purpose Driven, both ran the Quinella here last week and they should do the same again tonight, add the veteran Springvale Byrne for the Trifecta. Box up 1.2.5.8.

Race 5 - Troy Murray has a handy performer in Winsome Summer, she proved too strong from the same draw here last start and with her early pace should be right in the mix once again. Dashing Djay is a strong type and has won his last 3 over the sprint, the extra trip will suit him. Box up 1.3.5.8.

Race 6 - Farmin missed the start at Gawler last week and lost all chance, tonight he has moderate beginner’s either side so he should jump straight to the front and be hard to beat. Springvale Carla will be rattling home late but will need a bit of luck early, add Mates Blue who was a huge run here last start when winning. Box up 2.3.4.6.

Race 7 - Regal Looper is in outstanding form of late and charged home to win here in a handy 30.06 last Thursday, he is well drawn again and we will put him on top. Heading My Way which can add a heap of value for our Trifecta along with Dyna Parlance. Box up 2.3.7.8.

Race 8 - This is a more than handy Champion Puppy final and Rhynstone Teddy rattled home to score in 29.98 from box 4 here last start, he has a good strike rate from a handful of starts. Long Gully Pete has been missing the kick in recent starts and will be doing his best work over the last 100m, add Cooper Scooper who should be the improver. Box up 1.2.5.8.

Race 9 and we can’t go past the local champ On Fire, he is unbackable again tonight and is going for his 13th straight win, it is a huge credit to the Butcher team who keep their dogs in terrific condition. He wins again. High Eden Frost and Brick Lane can fill the placings. 8 from 1.2.6 boxed.

Race 10 - Let’s hope we are in front by now as this is a toughie, I will go with one at value in Barossa Kid who only needs to step to have a very big show in this. Tear It Down is another who can show up as he has early pace and the wide draw shouldn’t be a worry. Box up 2.3.5.6.

Race 11 – We tipped him last week and we left the money in the bookie bag and that is Greysynd Gem who is hopefully drawn for a bold showing tonight and we can all go home on a winning note. The Rasmussen team can nearly Quinella the race with Rock Away out in box 7 as she has been racing well. Box Up 1.2.6.7.
