Angle Park Racing Preview - 19.10.17
by The Shadow
Tonight we look forward to a strong 11 event programme and there appears to be a couple of good things on the card, we kick off with a very even 600m event and have a distance affair (race 4) where we will see Bogie Bekim strut his stuff again after a solid win here last week in a slick 43.07. Don’t forget all races are Trifecta and First Four Events with the guaranteed Trifecta pool of $10,000 on race 1.
Race 1 - We can kick off with an early winner with the Ben Rawlings trained Topology down in box 4, he carved out a slick 29.67 win over the sprint here last week and looks primed for the step up in distance tonight. Windmill Haze will be making late ground along with Aston Amon. Box Up 3.4.5.7.
Race 2 - Its very hard to go past the Petar Jovanovic trained Cairnlea Bella out in box 8, she has won at both of her career starts in sub 30 and is boxed for a bold showing again. Springvale Hope gets a long way back in her races but is a chance of pinching a place from her rails draw. Box Up 1.2.3.8.
Race 3 - We tipped him last week and he didn’t let us down when he charged home to win in 29.60 and that is High Eden Snow in the Jan Jones kennel, he will need to begin on terms from his awkward draw but his class should prevail. Barton Bale will only keep on improving with every look at the track and appears the main danger. Box Up 1.2.4.8.
Race 4 - He will start very short in the market from his draw of 5 and that is Bogie Bekim, he won by over 12 lengths here last week and looks to be back to his best form on that effort. Brick Lane will set the early pace again and should pinch a place once again. Box Up 1.2.5.8.
Race 5 - Molly Dobbs is very smart when on the lure and he gets his chance from his draw of 2, he can take the early lead and if there is trouble behind him he can pinch this. Majestic Tale is the big danger as she hasn’t missed a place at her last 5 starts, we can’t forget Diego Bale out wide and my roughie of the night Scottish Thistle. Box Up 1.2.4.8.
Race 6 - This is a wide-open affair so when in doubt go with the rails runner and that is My Boy Ollie who is dropping back in grade tonight, he is a moderate beginner who can run a cheeky race for the Jovanovic team. Edison Bale is the value runner who has a good turn of early pace and he looks a chance of leading these. Add Premier Jet out wide who will be rattling home late. Box Up 1.3.6.7.
Race 7 - The book ends look the main chances and they are the old fellow in Gun McBain and last start winner Aston Apollo, they are both in handy form and will go close to running the Quinella. Mr. Arjay is knocking on the door and will be making late ground from out wide. Box Up 1.4.7.8.
Race 8 - Cairnlea Kenny was an Adelaide Cup finalist here last week and was checked out of it on box rise but wasn’t beaten that far from this draw, he will be very hard to beat on his recent racing despite the poor draw. High Eden Frost showed a good turn of foot to lead the Cup field here last start and held on to run a very good 3rd behind Raw Ability in the final, he is drawn for a bold showing and should take a power of beating, they look to be the main 2 chances on their recent form. Box Up 2.3.5.8.
Race 9 - We will go with Merindah here as she has been around the mark here in her past couple and has the pace to lead and win from her draw of 3 and break through. Emerley Cosmic loves to fill a place and is the value runner for our trifecta. Add Glaucus who ran on strongly to score at Gawler last start. Box Up 2.3.5.6.
Race 10 - Helen Foster has a handy one in Skipper McLaren, he has won his last 3 here over the sprint and the 600m and his early pace will make him one of the main chances again and should prove the measuring stick from box 4. Velocity Lilly can be hit and miss on box rise but is a chance of running into the placings at each way odds. Box Up 1.4.5.7.
Race 11 - If we are behind going into the last we might be able to pinch one at good odds in Rockstar Lisa in box 5, she will appreciate a couple of moderate beginners on either side and is very capable when on the lure. Zipping Hondo is very tardy early but should be doing his best work over the last 100m as will be Alice’s Entity for the Rasmussen kennel. Box Up 3.5.6.8.

NOTIFICATION OF TRAINING AMENDMENT & CLEARANCE OF GREYHOUNDS
Trainers are reminded of their obligation to notify GRSA within 3 working days of a greyhound coming into or leaving their kennel (Rule 105(4)(i)).
This is a requirement for all greyhounds regardless of where bred. We have had a number of trainers recently put in training amendments late the night prior to nominations closing at 9am the following day, this practice can lead to your nomination not being accepted or being unable to nominate online should any issues arise the following morning.
Trainers are also leaving it to the night before nominations close to have greyhounds “checked off”. This practice can also lead to your nomination not being accepted or being unable to nominate online should any issues arise.
It is therefore in the trainer’s best interest to have lodged with GRSA the training amendment and clearance of the greyhound a number of days prior to wishing to nominate the greyhound. It is not GRSA’s responsibility to ensure that the paperwork is processed within ½ hour, which is the amount of time available to have it processed before nominations close at 9am.
COMPLETION OF PAPERWORK
Participants are reminded of their obligation to ensure that when lodging paperwork that it is fully completed and payment is made at the time of lodgement.
GRSA is here to assist should you be unsure of how to complete any paperwork however it is not our responsibility to arrange for its completion, nor is it our responsibility to ensure that it is lodged. Therefore, please ensure when lodging any paperwork eg, Transfer of Ownerships, Litter Registrations etc that they are fully completed and paid for and lodged within a timely manner.
CHASERS BUFFET ON MONDAY NIGHTS
GRSA will be trialling a change in food offerings at Chasers with a reduced buffet to be available on Monday nights as well as a breakfast/brunch buffet on Wednesday.
This began on Monday 9th October. The snack menu will also be available. The ala carte menu will still be available with existing participant discounts in McQueens.

BREEDERS SUPPORT UPDATES
In September last year in response to inquiries about the changes to the Breeders Support Program taking effect in April 2016 Greyhound Racing SA advised the changes below.
These changes are in support of breeder viability and continues increased spending on animal welfare and integrity initiatives.
Changes listed below:
Breeder Support Program
The following changes to the Breeder Support Program have been implemented:
1. Combined claim limit of $800 for all veterinary and transport expenses
2. Removal of the advanced application process for the breeders rebate now that both sires and breeding females must be registered
3. Removal of the cap on litters in anticipation of national (tiered) breeder licensing
SA Bred Maiden Payment - $1,000 if whelped in 2016
The SA bred maiden payment rewards participants that get a greyhound to the track to win a race. GRSA has committed to dramatically increase this payment from $175 to $1,000 ($500 breeder/$500 owner) on 1st July, 2017. This will result in all greyhounds that are whelped in 2016 being eligible for this support.
