TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

We are back in action at headquarters tonight, the prime night of racing.  We have 3 terrific heats of the SA St Ledger with some quality youngsters gracing the Angle Park loam. The semis are races 2,3, and 4 on the programme, venture to race 8 which is an outstanding event over the sprint and the bookends appear the main chances. We have 12 events tonight and don’t forget all are trifecta and First 4 events.

Race 1 and we can kick off with an early winner in Alice’s Entity for the Rasmussen kennel.  She has been racing well and is boxed for a bold showing.  Chatterbox is a pacey type and looks a chance.  Box Up 4.5.6.8.

Race 2, forget his last start and that is High Eden Snow.  He is all quality and is drawn to run a big race, the Butcher kennel will have another handy night so we can’t leave out Roc The Belvue. Add the well performed Gangalla Fury who just keeps on winning for the trifecta.  Box Up 1.2.5.7.

Race 3 looks a race in 2 and the punters elect will be On Fire, his only problem is he can be hit and miss on box rise.  That’s why I lean towards Aston Kody who is resuming from injury he might be able to pinch this with luck.  Box Up 1.2.6.7.

Race 4 - The powerful Butcher kennel have a smart one with Purpose Driven.  She has won her last 4 starts all in good times and will prove the measuring stick once again.  Scorching will be running on late and is must for the multiples.  Box Up 1.6.7.8.

Race 5 - This is a more than handy 600m event with Run The Jewels starting amongst the favourites, she hasn’t missed a cheque here in her last 5 runs and capped it off with a nice win over the sprint here at her last start.  Sutton Steele is another who is in fine form and he should take up a forward position, watch late for Allen Portland at odds.  Box Up 2.4.5.6.

Race 6 - Good open affair here and we will look at the pick 4 for value.  Cyclone Clifford will be doing his best work late so we will put him in the mix.  What’s Up Trump is boxed for a bold showing down on the rails and Regal Looper has the pace to be right in the finish.  Box Up 1.3.5.7.

Race 7, The well-drawn runner is definitely Molly Be Nimble, she has been struggling of late but looks the big improver.  I’m looking for value out wide in Egyptian Diva, she is my value bet of the night, she is only a moderate beginner but loves a wide draw, add in Pawesome Boss who is more than capable with a clear run.  Box Up 2.5.6.7.

Race 8 - Fabregal has the pace to bounce back from the rails draw tonight, she has been in the money here in 25 of her 30 starts and can crack the $150,000 barrier by winning. Venture out wide to Rockstar Lisa for value, she is very smart when on song and is another who loves a wide draw.   Box Up 1.3.4.8.

Race 9, The distance affair of the night and a very good one at that because we have at least 5 chances in a 7 dog event. Long Gully Gilly has been knocking on the door and gets his chance to break back into the winners circle.  Linco Bale is coming off a last start win over the 600m in good fashion and is one to watch, add in Paddy Macs for value.  Box Up 3.4.7.8.

Race 10, She led here last week but was run down and that was Rock Away for the Rasmussen kennel, looks well drawn and should be able to pinch this.  Kennel mate Tommy’s Tune will be right in the mix as will Sappy Bale as she love to run a place.  Box Up 1.2.5.7

Race 11, The Jovanovic kennel has a smart one with Cairnlea Kenny, he has won 4 out of his 5 career starts and looks far too strong for this lot.  Yes Sarge will be the improver and was a winner here at her SA debut. Add in Dyna Chirpy who loves to run a place.  Box Up 1.3.4.7.

Race 12, We should be able to go home on a winner with the old fellow Fusaichi Kahn, he resumed with a handy 4th and is sure to strip a lot fitter.  Pelican Keeping will be big odds and is worth putting in the pick 4 along with Odds And Ends.  Box Up 2.3.4.6.

AGRC MEMBERS LUCKY DOG DRAW

Each year we have drawn 4 names for each week’s Thursday APK race 8, next to each name is the box number of the dog you have drawn in Race 8.

If your box number happens to win Race 8, you can renew your membership next year (30th June) for half price.

If you happen to own or train greyhounds racing on the date that your name has been drawn, you can choose to have your dogs drawn instead of the lucky box number and it works the same if your dog drawn happens to win.  It is up to you to notify an AGRC committee member on the night that you want to take up this option and we will randomly draw one of your dogs competing on the night. AGRC Committee members are Alan Amezdroz, Barry Stewart, Petar Jovanovic, Melissa Trowbridge, Gabe Vistolli and Gavin Harris.
