Angle Park Racing Preview - 16/6/2016
by The Shadow
Tonight’s 11 event programme is a fairly open one so it should make it an interesting night for punters. Race 3, the 600m event brings together 6 very handy performers so it should be a good betting affair. Races 7 and 8 are two more that are very open so we can have a good crack at the trifecta and First 4.
Race 1 and we tipped him last week as our roughie and he ran a very good 2nd and that is Lisheen from box 2. Tonight he can nearly lead all the way. The main dangers will come from the inform Flash Of Hope and the pacey Aston Coco. Box Up 1.2.4.7.
Race 2 This is a tough betting affair with several chances. The book ends will both be right in the mix but can be hit and miss on box rise. Full Bogan will be running on and appears a chance with an ounce of early luck. Box Up 1.3.6.8.
Race 3 is a handy 600m event. The two big chances look to be Coorong Kid and Texas Titan. Both have good form over this trip, one has early pace the other will be flying home over the top of them. I will stick with Texas Titan in the small field. Box Up 1.2.4.5
Race 4 This is a very open affair. Venture out to box 8 and Optic Blast is the inform runner with a win here and at Gawler in recent starts. He has a good turn of early pace which will help from the wide draw. Falcon Ute can pinch a place at odds from the inside draw along with Winthrop Flyer who has won 3 of her past 5. Box Up 1.2.6.8.
Race 5 The distance event of the night and a tough one at that. The punters elect should be Go You Girl, she is yet to miss a place here in her five starts. Danyo’s Tom is very honest and looks the leader again. Box Up 1.3.6.7.
Race 6 The pace will be coming from out wide with the inform Sunday Shoes and Gun McBain. Both can run quick times and are a must for our trifecta and first 4. Let’s add in Junner Bale who is well drawn down on the fence and Farhat Bale for big value. Box Up 2.6.7.8.
Race 7 Crisis Bale has the early dash here to overcome box 4. He has been in terrific form of late and should spear to the front. Fusaichi Kahn is drawn for a bold showing and will be doing his best work over the last 100m. Box Up the inside 4 .1.2.3.4.
Race 8 This is a more than handy event, I will go with Kalispell down in box 2 he was an eye catching run here last start when 2nd in good time and he should be able to punch up from the draw a prove hard to beat. Lizard Spock has won his last 4 all in handy times and looks a must for the trifecta. Impact Bale is a handy performer but is hit and miss on box rise. Box Up 1.2.7.9.
Race 9 With only 5 runners Team Roper should start a VERY short priced favourite from box 1. He hasn’t missed a cheque in his last 5 starts and when able to lead can carve out slick times. Petite Belle can run into a place as can Aston Asteroid. Trifecta and pick 4 in order 1.2.4.8 $1 a unit.
Race 10 The well-travelled Springvale Bryne looks very hard to toss in this event. She was a winner over the distance two runs back at Sandown Park then returned to SA with a B.O.D win here winning by over 6L Ruff State. Is the big danger in the small field. Trifecta in order 7.3.1.5
Race 11 and we should be able to go home on a winner with Long Gully Jonny he has a perfect strike rate over the short and looks the likely leader again. Velocity Tina is one to watch as she will be flying home late along with Total Shambles. Box Up 2.3.6.7

LICENCE RENEWALS DUE ON 30TH JUNE 2016
Please be advised that your licence renewal will be due on Thursday 30th June 2016. We have sent out renewals to those requiring to update their license last week and will be for a 12 month period.
Please check your licence card to confirm the expiry date.
With the date being the 30th June it is vital that you license before the cut of time to ensure no greyhounds will miss a run. As an example it you are nominating for the race meeting on Friday 1st July you would want to have renewed by Friday 24th June.
Check with Owners locally and from Interstate as this has been an issue in recent years and get the licences renewed well and truly before June 30.
2014 GREYHOUND AUCTION SEMI FINALS TONIGHT
Heats for the Main race series for greyhounds that were purchased through the 2014 Auction were run last Wednesday with two 5 dog events leading into two semi finals tonight.

In support of these greyhounds GRSA committed to running a three week series so the same greyhounds from each heat will compete in two semi finals tonight (different box draw)
The semi finals are worth $4,590 with the $19,000 Final to be next Thursday 23rd June 2016.
There will be another series to be run in July over 515m on a Wednesday 13th July for $1,025 heats and then the final on Thursday 21st July worth $5,000.

The winner of the Final is also eligible for a $12,000 bonus if it can win the 2016 Gawler Gold Cup in late October. The Bonus was not won last series, so it has jackpotted by $1,000 for 2016. If the winner of the Produce is SA Bred, there is also a $1,000 SA Bred Bonus.
FUTURITY PAYMENTS DUE THIS MONTH
Owners of SA Bred greyhounds are reminded that the next batch of Futurity payments are due on Friday 24th June 2016. There will be three series for which payments will need to be made.
The payments due are:
Classic 2016 – Final Payment Pups Born July 14 to Dec 14
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first two Sustaining Payments have been made. The Final Payment is $121 per greyhound.
Breeders 2017– Second Payment - Pups Born Jan 15 to June 15
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first Sustaining Payments or a “one-off” Final payment was made last December. The Second Sustaining Payment is $55 per pup or a Final Payment of $121 can be made at this stage.
Classic 2017– First Payment - Pups Born July 15 to Dec 15
Finally the First Payment is due for Classic 2017. All SA Bred greyhounds born in the above period are eligible to make this payment. The First Payment is $27.50 per pup or a “one-off” Final payment of $121 can be made at this stage.
To assist all owners of Futurity eligible pups, reminders have been posted. It is perhaps a good idea to make the payment as soon as you can, so it doesn’t slip your mind and the closing date passes. If you have sold a pup/s we would ask if you can either forward on the information or let Caralyn Fielden know at GRSA and she can follow it up. If you haven’t received a reminder and you think you should have, contact us asap.
CHANGES TO OAKS AND DERBY ELIGIBILITY IN 2017
The Group 3 SA Oaks and SA Derby to be run in September this year will be for greyhounds whelped on or after 1st March 2014 (30 months) however in 2017 this will go from 30 months to 27 months. 2016 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA
The AGRA National Championships are just around the corner. The National Finals this year will be held on home soil at Angle Park to be conducted on Saturday 27th August. Both the National Sprint and National Distance Finals will carry prizemoney of $75,000 to the winner.
The State series’ for SA will be held at Angle Park on Thursday 11th August for the Heats with the State Finals on the 18th August.
The most important date for local trainers to remember is the national closing date for entries. Acceptances for the National Championships will close with GRSA on Friday 22nd July at 12 noon. Nominations this year can be made the normal way either online, faxed or lodged with GRSA.
A reminder to all trainers of the clause which requires a greyhound to have been domiciled in South Australia for a period of not less than 76 days out of the 150 days immediately prior to the National Acceptance Closing date to be eligible to represent SA. If unsure of a greyhound’s status, please contact the GRSA grading staff.
PATHWAY RACING UPDATE
In January 2016, Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) introduced the Pathway Racing concept, which aims to provide regular and ongoing racing opportunities for lower class and out of form greyhounds. Whilst the initial stages of the trial appeared very successful, the transition to a flattened stakemoney structure has not been as well received by participants as anticipated. In response to this decline in support, GRSA will implement a new stakemoney structure (refer table below), slightly alter the way races are selected and extend the trial period of the Pathway Racing concept to 31st July, 2016 when a full review will take place.
Another important change that participants should be aware of, is that the Grader will now draw all eligible greyhounds into Pathway races, unless ‘NO PATHWAY’ is stipulated on the nominations. As such, participants should be diligent when nominating for meetings where Pathway races have been advertised.
These changes will be effective from the Angle Park meeting on Wednesday 8th June. Nominations close on Friday 3rd June.
SUMMARY OF CHANGES – effective Friday 3rd June 2016
· Increased stakemoney allocation for first place
· Greyhounds will be included in Pathway Races if eligible (unless ‘NO PATHWAY’ on nomination)
· Selection of races – greater emphasis on one trainer per race and worst to best form with SA Bred preferences included
· Trial period extended to 31st July 2016
STAKEMONEY SCHEDULE (As of 1/6/16)
ELIGIBILITY TO COMPLETE
· Pathway Racing events will only be for Maiden, Grade 6 and Grade 5 greyhounds at the track
· Greyhounds must have started in South Australia on four occassions to be eligible for these races (First starters and greyhounds with one, two or three starts will not be considered for these events)
· Greyhounds must not have run faster than the below time standards at their past four starts:
· Pathway Racing aims to ensure maximum participation, therefore the Grader will endeavour to include all trainers entering at least one greyhound, prior to including multiple greyhounds from the same trainer
· Fields will be selected worst form to best form in the opinion of the Grader. The Order of Preference is not be used for Pathway Racing
· Grade 6 and Grade 5 Pathway races will carry no penalty however where Grade 6 greyhounds compete in Grade 5 events and are successful they will become a Grade 5 at the track and ineligible for Grade 6 events at the track. (Normal rules apply for Maiden events)
· Races will be graded on race wins where possible
· Guarding will occur where possible
· Pathway Racing to be run at Angle Park Wednesday meetings and Gawler Sunday meetings along with Mt Gambier.
NOMINATING FOR PATHWAY RACES
All eligible greyhounds will be drawn into Pathway races unless ‘NO PATHWAY’ has been stipulated on the nomination.
