Angle Park Racing Preview - 15.6.17
by The Shadow
The AGRC/GRSA Greyhound Auction final is race 8 on tonight’s programme and a very open one at that! This series carry’s $16,000 to the winner and a very handy $5,000 to the runner up. It’s sure to be an interesting final but I will go with Blaxland down in box 1. The kennel to follow for the night is the Lauren Harris team with 4 runners engaged throughout the night and all look to have strong chances.
Race 1 - We have been starting the night in recent weeks with a winner and the Victorian visitor in Amelia Christa should prove very hard to beat out in box 6, she has a good turn of early pace so we will put her on top. Danyo’s Tom loves the rails draw and will be right in the finish as will Regal Looper. Box Up 1.2.6.7.
Race 2 - As mentioned before the Lauren Harris team can have a strong night and they have a big chance with Forlano here, he has a good turn of early pace and should prove the measuring stick. Larrikin Locky can fill a place along with Shakey Shadow at big value. Box Up 1.2.7.8.
Race 3 - He just keeps on winning and has now won his last 7 here and has been in the money at this venue in 29 of his 33 starts and yes that is ON FIRE. He wins again; add in litter mate Purpose Driven and Cairnlea Kenny for the placings. Box Up 2 from 3.7.8.
Race 4 - The pace will be coming from out wide and we will stick with Long Gully Pete who is a youngster with a heap of ability. Victa Ollie was a big run when 2nd in the Howard Ashton final here last week and is a must for the trifecta. Box Up 1.3.7.8.
Race 5 - Troy Murray has a handy one with Aston Ah Chee, he has won his past 2 over the short at Gawler and is boxed to lead and win from his rails draw. Rhynstone Jetta is more than capable when on song and won from this draw 3 runs back in quick time, add in Zipping Nelson for value as he will be rattling home late. Box Up 1.5.6.7.
Race 6 - This is a terrific 600m event and the 2 main chances are Zipping Zeus and Allen Oregon, both can run quick times with a clear run so they are the stand outs. All the others can all fill a place but I will put in Caprice Monelli, Box Up 3.6.7.8.
Race 7 - The winner should come from either Buzz Box or Alpha Alexander, both have drawn of the track but have the pace to overcome their draws, whoever leads for mine should win. Allen Mondo is very capable on his night and won from this draw 4 starts back at Gawler. Box Up 1.4.7.8
Race 8 - This is the Auction Final with a total of $26.000 spread over the 8 runners, even unplaced collects $500 so make sure you’re at the next Auction and buy up so you can have a runner in this magnificent series. Who can win well I will stick with Blaxland down in box 1, he has pace and if he can hold the lead looks very hard to beat, Aston Hinkley has the runs on the board and can’t be dismissed from his draw of 3, add Springvale Carla and Springvale Cooke for the First Four. Box Up 1.2.3.8.
Race 9 - Its great to have a 731m event on the programme and the 2 to watch for me are Pure Presence and Springvale Bryne, both can sit on the pace early and will be right in the finish. Zero Knockin can fill the placings. Box Up 1.2.4.8.
Race 10 - Lauren Harris should salute here with Dorsal, he has been in the money here in his last 3 starts but should find this more to his liking and his draw of 2 will help his chances. Keno Bale can be hit and miss but is more than capable when on song. Box Up 1.2.4.5.
Race 11 - Its great to go home on a winner and Heading My Way should be able to do that for us from his draw of 1, he is very strong in the run home and should be able to stay out of trouble from the rails draw. Bekalia”s Freak is a very ordinary beginner but will be flying home late. Box Up 1.2.6.8.

VALE - KATHY SHEPHERD
GRSA was saddened to hear of the passing of Kathy Shepherd last week. Kathy was a breeder and public trainer who lived in the Callington area and was well known for whelping and rearing pups.
Long time participants of the Greyhound Industry, both Kathy and husband Jim are the nicest people you could ever meet so GRSA’s thoughts are with their family at this sad time.

The Strathalbyn GRC will not conduct trials tomorrow night at the venue.

The highly talented Paraphernalia won the 600m event by over 4 lengths and set the new time standard of 34.97 for the middle distance at the venue.
Over the 512m Brazen Bomber got a run from reserve in a hot Free For All event and blistered around the venue in a sizzling 29.55 in winning by almost 5 lengths and also set a new track record.
Congratulations to Jeff and the connections of these greyhounds for outstanding performances last Sunday.

LICENSE RENEWALS DUE ON 30TH JUNE 2017
Please be advised that your license renewal will be due on Friday 30th June 2017. We have sent out renewals to those requiring to update their license.
Please check your license card to confirm the expiry date.
With the date being the 30th June it is vital that you license before the cut of time to ensure no greyhounds will miss a run. As an example it you are nominating for any race meeting in July you would want to have renewed by Friday 23rd June to guarantee no issues.
Check with Owners locally and from Interstate as this has been an issue in recent years and get the licenses renewed well and truly before June 30.
Please contact the GRSA Integrity Department for queries or questions.
FUTURITY PAYMENTS DUE THIS MONTH
Owners of SA Bred greyhounds are reminded that the next batch of Futurity payments are due on Friday 23rd June 2017.
There will be three series for which payments will need to be made.
The payments due are:
Classic 2017 – Final Payment Pups Born July 15 to Dec 15
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first two Sustaining Payments have been made. The Final Payment is $121 per greyhound.
Breeders 2018 – Second Payment - Pups Born Jan 16 to June 16
This payment is for greyhounds for which the first Sustaining Payment or a “one-off” Final payment was made last December. The Second Sustaining Payment is $55 per pup or a Final Payment of $121 can be made at this stage.
Classic 2018 – First Payment - Pups Born July 16 to Dec 16
Finally the First Payment is due for Classic 2018. All SA Bred greyhounds born in the above period are eligible to make this payment. The First Payment is $27.50 per pup or a “one-off” Final payment of $121 can be made at this stage.
To assist all owners of Futurity eligible pups, reminders have been posted. It is perhaps a good idea to make the payment as soon as you can, so it doesn’t slip your mind and the closing date passes. If you have sold a pup/s we would ask if you can either forward on the information or let Caralyn Fielden know at GRSA and she can follow it up. If you haven’t received a reminder and you think you should have, contact us asap.
TIME GRADING UPDATE
GRSA has been working at achieving some of the outcomes from the recent Grading Review Panel meeting held on 28th April 2017. Some items like cascading reserves need to be implemented by Ozchase however some do not.
We will be able to include greyhounds with 0 – 2 starts so every greyhound nominated will be eligible for consideration. The table below details the rating for 0-2 start greyhounds -
“A greyhound with 0 starts will be given a rating of 10 as a starting point. At its second start it will have the average of 10 and its first start. At its third start, it will be the average of the 2 lowest ratings, including the base rating of 10. ie if had 12, 12 from 2 starts, it will be 10 + 12 / 2 = 11”
For “Best to Worst” Time Grading we will be able to include higher graded greyhounds into mixed events if there are insufficient nominations for a single race. The conditions of this are listed below -
“A Grade 4 can be mixed with a Grade 5 however a Grade 3 will not unless there is also a Grade 4 greyhound selected for that time graded race”
GRSA has also started to program some category Time Grading meetings. These meetings are for greyhounds that are Maidens, 1 – 4 wins and 5 plus wins all time graded “lowest to highest”. Please refer to the All Tracks calendars for details.
