TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

After a very tough week on the weather front I hope everybody stayed warm and reasonably dry.  Tonight we can back a few winners and look forward to a bit of sunshine over the weekend. The main races to focus on in the 11 event programme tonight are races 4 ,6 and 8.  All are very good betting races and are over either the 600m or 731m. We can’t leave out race 3 as the six runners are all a genuine chance.

Race 1 and this is a very tricky race to kick the night off with.  We don’t often see the Westerlo kennel crossing the border for the scenery!  So we must have an each way wager on Spring Patsy down in box 2.  Ruff State has a good turn of early pace and will be very hard to beat.  Add in Penny maker for the Trifecta.  Box Up 2.5.6.8.

Race 2, Westy Bob should start the punters elect out in box 8.  He has a good turn of early pace and when on song would win and win easily, BUT we need to build the bank early so we will go with the pacey Bessie Belle.  She is in form and might be able to pinch this.  Rue De Rose will add a bit of value for the Trifecta and First 4.  Box Up 1.2.6.8.

Race 3 - How good is this race!  We only have 6 runners but they all have a chance, it is hard to go past Coorong Kid as he is suited to the small field.  Crisis Bale has a good turn of early pace as does Gun MacBain.  Box Up 1.2.4.8.

Race 4 is the first of the 600m events and we must venture to the outside brigade in She’s A Looper and  Antique Blonde.  Both love this trip and should be carving across early from their wide draws.   Zana Bale is the value runner down on the fence and shouldn’t be too far away at big odds.  Box Up 2.4.7.8.

Race 5 and it doesn’t get harder than this event so it makes it a very interesting betting affair. I like the inside 4, as a couple have early pace and the other two will be running on strongly.  In saying that I have left out Skinny Bob who can whoosh straight to the front and beat them all out in box 8.  Let’s stick with the inside 4.  Box Up 1.2.3.4.Good Luck.

Race 6 and we see the return of Luna Jinx back on home territory after chasing the big bickies across Australia in recent months.  She is all class and only her kennel mate in Springvale Bryne can beat her out in box 7.  Add in Seeking Justice who is the likely improver for the trifecta.  Box Up 1.3.4.7.

Race 7 is a tricky race but I will go with Aston Dawn down in box 1.  She was a good winner at Gawler two runs back then found early trouble there last start to finish 4th.  Sheeza Nitro and Just In Hodges are more than capable despite their tricky draws.  Box Up 1.3.4.5.

Race 8, this is the 600m final and a very good one at that, when in doubt we must go for the box draw and the inform kennel of Ben Rawlings has Dyna Keitaro who looks well boxed after his last 3rd being checked from pillar to post in the run.  Backpacker is another who will improve and is more than capable of pinching this.  Add in Barley’s Rhythm who was the fastest of this contingent here last week.  Box Up 1.3.5.6.

Race 9 and we tipped him last start and he missed the kick and that is Fusaichi Kahn, tonight he can bounce back and repay our faith from box 6. Hesa Jayclo loves a wide draw and is knocking on the door. Regal Looper has been struggling of late but is a lot better than form suggest so have a saver on him at good odds Box Up 3.5.6.8.

Race 10 - Scorching looks one of the better bets of the night down in box 2, he should be able to kick up from the rails draw and win. Tristy Allen loves to run a place but is hit and miss on box rise.  Box Up 2.3.7.8.

Race 11, tough race to go home on and I will stick with Aston Force for Troy Murray.  She has been the bridesmaid at her past couple, running on at both runs.  She can break through tonight from box 1.  Chappie Bale is in terrific form and is the obvious danger.  Box Up 1.4.6.7.
