TELLING THE TAIL

by The Shadow

It looks a strong 11 event programme tonight and we have a classy field assembled in race 9 over the 600m.  We have been on the right side of the ledger in recent weeks and we should be able to do the same again tonight.  Don’t forget all races are trifecta and First 4 events. When Worm Burner wins race 4 the champion sprinter will crack the $200,000 prizemoney mark…not bad at his 50th start.

Race 1 and a tricky one to kick the night off with as there are several chances.  We will go with the Wendy Matcott trained sprinter in Dyna Leona from box 1.  She can be slow early but is very strong.  I have tipped Optic Blast in recent starts so we can’t leave him out of the top 3.  Add in Rockstar Billy who should start the punters elect.  Box Up 1.2.3.5.

Race 2, this is the 731m event of the night and it’s very hard to go past the inform Springvale Bryne.  She won the Premier’s Cup here last week leading throughout and should do the same again tonight.  Go You Girl always runs and honest race.  Box Up 1.4.7.8.

Race 3, we tipped him last week and he missed the kick and ran a handy 2nd and that is Fusaichi Kahn.  He looks well suited in this and should nearly lead from his wide draw.  We can’t overlook the pacey Are Ate who will find this more to his liking.  Box Up 2.4.7.8.

Race 4, WELL Worm Burner was a massive run in last week’s Adelaide Cup final when he flew late to run 2nd from this draw.  He has been hit and miss of late from the boxes but he is a class above these and will start at very skinny odds.  For the placings add in the pacey Crisis Bale and Wheel Spinner.  Lets go 1 from 3.5.7 boxed.

Race 5, the Rasmussen kennel has been on fire of late and has a strong hand in this event with 5 runners.  Their sprinter in Rockstar Lisa looks very hard to beat again from her draw of 2.   She has the pace to kick up and should prove too strong in the run home.  Their other runners in Dyna Northfolk and Bounce Pas can run into the First 4.  We can’t leave out the Matty Payne trained Scorching as he loves filling a place.  Box Up 2.4.6.7.

Race 6, there looks to be two main chances and they are Aston Dawn and Allinga Val.  Both are very smart when able to lead and have a good strike rate.  She’s A Looper is very smart when on song and is a must for the trifecta and First 4.  Box Up 1.3.4.6.

Race 7, Gun McBain has a remarkable record at his age and is having his 124th start tonight and looks very hard to beat again from his middle draw.   Flying Mal is drawn for a bold showing out in box 8 and will be right in the finish on his recent runs.  Add in Columbian Flame on the rails and we should go very close with our trifecta.  Box Up 1.3.6.8.

Race 8, the Troy Murray trained Its Classified should find this more to his liking with his draw of 7 and being down in grade, should make him one of the better bets of the night. He only needs an ounce of luck in the run to the first turn.  The dangers will come from Sheez Stunning and Yeardley who are in fine form.  Box Up 3.4.6.7.

Race 9, this is a ripper of a 600m event and there looks to be at least three main chances in the field of 6. I like Texas Titan who flew home last start after a short break and ran 3rd.  He will only be improved by the outing and will be hard to beat.  Allen Mondo is the inform runner and will be right in the mix.  We can’t leave out Barely’s Rhythm who is always a chance of causing an upset.  Box Up 2.5.7.8.

Race 10 and let’s hope we are well in front by now as this is a very tricky race.  We will go with Halt who has been racing well but is hit and miss on box rise, if he is handy early he should run a bold race.  Show Me Dollars and Hy Guard are racing well but their draws are the worry.  Box Up 1.3.4.5.

Race 11, the handy youngster in Inequity for Robyn Mackellar will be hard to beat on his effort here two runs back when he was a 30.08 winner.  He has the pace to lead and send us home on a winning note.  Calendar Girl is a strong type and she can come from any draw.  Box Up 2.3.4.8.
