Angle Park Racing Preview - 11.8.16
by The Shadow
The time has arrived, the UBET National series kicks off here at headquarters. Tonight we have three heats over the sprint and two over the 731m. The supporting programme is more than handy so we can have a good night on the punt.
Race 1, he has been ultra-consistent in recent weeks and that is Fusaichi Kahn down in box 1. He should hold the early lead and prove too strong in the run home. Regal Looper was a big improver here last start so we will put him in our trifecta along with He’s A Villian who will appreciate the inside draw. Box Up 1.2.3.6
Race 2 - This is a tricky race as there are several chances. I will go with Scorching in box ,2 he has been well supported at his past couple from wide draws, but I think the rails will suit him and give us a bold showing for our money. Rockstar Swirl is in form and is the big danger. Box Up 2.4.5.7.
Race 3 - The first of the Sprint heats and I can’t go past Worm Burner, he won his 8th in a row here last week and had to come from the rear of the field again. He looks far too good for them again. Temalor can run a cheeky race from box 1 as can Wilba Beast. 4 from 1.5.8.
Race 4 - The 2nd of the UBET Sprint heats and Fabregal was very unlucky not to cross here last week from box 6 and finished 4th behind Worm Burner in 29.62. Tonight she can ping and lead. Marlow Brown is very consistent and will show plenty of cheek as will Dyna Keitaro. Box Up 1.5.7.8.
Race 5 - The 3rd of the heats, Lachlan Brown has a very good strike rate with his handful of starts but has been hampered by injuries. Caustic Bale returned to form with a big win in 29.77 here last Thursday and is boxed for a bold showing again. Add in the pacey Crisis Bale for the trifecta. Box Up 1.2.4.7.
Race 6 - Heat 1 of the Distance and the two main chances are the book ends, Mrs. Bubbles and Springvale Bryne. Both have a good turn of early pace with the latter having won 7 of her 12 over this trip at this venue. Mrs Bubbles has won her last 5 over the 600m and has been set for this. Box Up 1.2.7.8.
Race 7 - The 2nd of the heats over the 731m and Luna Jinx for Gavin Harris found a heap of trouble here last week but still managed to run 3rd behind her kennel mate in 43.70. She can bounce back and make next week’s final. Sutton Steele has been in fine form over the 643m at Gawler and is making his distance debut. He could lead here for a long way at handy odds. Box Up 1.2.4.8.
Race 8 - Todd Kelly looks to have a strong hand in this with his two charges, Paddy McBain and Gun McBain. Both are quick early and should be right in the finish. Rockstar Lisa is very smart when on the lure but has the ordinary draw of 5. Add in Dodger I Am for the First 4. Box Up 1.3.5.6.
Race 9 - This is a handy 600m event and I like one at odds in Cris Tyson. She can be hit and miss on box rise but loves to run a place. Aston Dawn is pacey and would be hard to beat if she begins on turn. Tahlo and the newcomer Panda Bale for the minors. Box Up 3.4.6.7.
Race 10 - Wheel Spinner should lead and win in this company from his draw of 1. He is well down in grade but will be very short in the market. Tuggeragh is pacey along with Sheeza Nitro. 1 from 2.3.6.
Race 11 is the final event on a terrific night of racing and the pacey Hairy Hairdreser can pinch this from her draw of 3. She has been in the money in 6 of her 8 career starts. Jables has been racing well over the short and is one to watch. Box Up 1.3.7.8.

In the Sprint Series, the main chances look to be Worm Burner and It’s Classified from heat 1, Marlow Brown and Fabregal from heat 2 while in heat 3 Lachlan Brown does battle with Caustic Bale. The first two from each heat and the fastest 2 thirds will qualify for next weeks State Final in what looks a great series.
The box draws for the UBET State Finals will be conducted on track tonight, following the Heats. The Sprint draw will take place after race 6 and the Distance draw will be conducted after race 8.
UBET NATIONALS STATE FINALS
After the first week of racing for the 2016 UBET Nationals, we have already confirmed our first Finalists from the Apple Isle. Mahalo Miss qualified with a dashing front running display to win the Tasmania Distance Final on Monday night.
There was a minor upset in the Sprint Final also on Monday night when the Gary Johnson trained Buckle Up Beneau was able to punch through from box 1 on the first turn and hold his challengers at bay to win by a nose at double eachway odds in a flying 29.98 for the 515m journey.
