Angle Park Preview - Thursday February 13, 2014

13/02/2014
Racing News

It was a BIG struggle here last week with several favourites going down, the punters would have gone home and put the form guide right in the bin.  Tonight we can bounce back as the programme appears to be a good betting card.

Race 1 and Chemical Maker can start us off on a winning note, he was a best of day winner at Gawler last start and is boxed to lead and win.  Off My Trout has a big motor when on song and is the big danger.  Add in Zulu Spear for the trifecta.  Box up 2.3.4.6.

This race has been affected by scratchings leaving Sir Scrappy very hard to beat who is well drawn out in box 8. Smash Crash for the quinella. Box up 1.2.7.8.

Race 3 and I have tipped the inside 4 and have gone with Dyna Erwin in box 2.  Box up 1.2.3.4

The Distance race of the evening is race 4 and it comes down to two runners.  Boxes 4 and 7 are the main chances.  Dyna Daina will lead and we can only hope she can pinch it.  McLaren Grace will be thundering home and should start the punters elect.  Add in kennel mate Steffi McLaren and that looks the trifecta.  Box up 1.4.7.8.

Race 5 and Lolly Bale looks a good thing.  She is a quick beginner and has carved out a slick 29.67 recently.  There are a heap of chances to run a place.  Box up 1.2.3.5.

This is a very interesting race and it gets down to 4 chances.  Box 8, Encosta Kahn is very smart when on song but will need to begin.  I have gone with Bronze Venus out of box 2 who is in good form.  Box up 2.3.5.8.

The 7th event and how good is this race.  It looks a blanket finish for mine with at least 5 chances that are all capable of saluting.  Wild Soul has the pink and is in outstanding form.  Add in Suntory Gold and Lochinvar Impala who is a big chance.  Don’t forget Mr. Donatello who was an eye catching run last week.  Box up 1.2.4.7.8.

Race 8 and the book ends are the main chances.  Kalden Gambino and Set The Scene who has drawn the pink.  Whoever leads should win.  Box up 1.5.7.8.

Another 600m event is race 9 and Tercel and Victa Scott both have a good turn of early pace and they are the two who will fight it out for the finish.  I would take the best odds as they will go stride for stride.  Box up 1.2.4.7.

Race 10 looks an open affair with many chances. I like Queen Rascal from box 6 who will be in the mix along with Animate out of the 7. Too Tall Toby for the minors.  Box up 4.6.7.8.

The last and we can go home on a winner with Hairy Bear.  He just needs to be close early to score as he is a very ordinary beginner.  Lochie Bale is in form along with Omara Allen.  Box up 4.5.6.8.

Best Roughie            Race 6 No 1 Dyna Quistis

SEPARATION OF GAWLER STARTED THIS WEEK

The separation of Gawler was introduced on Tuesday this week. At Gawler the Tuesday (Provincial 1) meeting will be different grading to both Friday and Sunday (Provincial 2). The greyhounds current grade as of Monday at Gawler was used as the point of separation for both Provincial 1 and Provincial 2 . With the introduction of separate grading at Gawler the Grade 6 rules have changed. The changes allow for two more wins at Gawler for SA Bred greyhounds (two tracks) and 1 more win for Non SA Bred greyhounds making it a maximum of 4. With the separation there will be really no more opportunity to“beat the grader”. If as of Monday your greyhound had won all of his/her Grade 6 events then there are no extra races to be won however if you still had Grade 6’s to win then there may be a few more opportunities available.

With the introduction of Provincial 1 and Provincial 2 other tracks of same classification have also changed from Provincial. Listed below is how we recognise tracks in SA.

Angle Park Thursday – City A

Angle Park Monday – City B

Gawler Tuesday – Provincial 1

Angle Park Wednesday – Provincial 2

Gawler Friday – Provincial 2

Gawler Sunday – Provincial 2

Strathalbyn Sunday – Provincial 2

Mt Gambier Friday & Sunday– Provincial 2

Pt Augusta - Country

TREATMENT BOOKS

With the new rules regarding Treatment Books being introduced from the 1st January it is recommended that all trainers keep a documented history of all treatments for each of their greyhounds as per the new rules. GRSA has been in the process of assisting trainers with specific treatment books however they are still being finalised and should be available in the next few months.
